Lol I don't know how these things work, with an aerial, would it have to be connected to anything? Or just stand somewhere..
And if I buy the one you said, is it very likely the freeview on the laptop will start working?0 -

The aerial needs to be connected using a length of co-ax cable to your Freeview adaptor. The best co-ax to use is what is used for satellite installations which is double screened and low loss - CT100 or equivalent.
Your Freeview adaptor will only work if you provide adequate signal to it, which is very unlikely with a set top type aerial unless you are very close to the transmitter. I can receive DVB channels on my desktop PC but it is connected to an aerial in the loft. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -

Oh. So there is no way I can get it actually wirelessly...
Is it the same if I just want to receive the terrestrial channels?
Wouldn't a freeview signal booster do the job: http://search.ebay.co.uk/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&from=R10&catref=C6&satitle=freeview+booster&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D3&sadis=200&fpos=LE23JU&ga10244=10425&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=3%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search&fgtp=

Okay people, I still have no signal, so I'd really appreciate it if someone could tell me exactly what I need to buy (preferably from eBay) to get the signal working!
Thanks in advance..0 -

If your usb dongle does analogue, then you might be able to get that with a crappy indoor aerial, but you need to be near a transmitter to get freeview with an indoor aerial.
Have you plugged your usb adapter into your flat tv outlet yet and tried it?
I haven't got a flat screen, but I have a large Toshiba downstairs... I'm not sure how to connect it up though, and do I need to tune it in to get the channels?0 -

Connect the aerial that normally goes into your Tosh downstairs to the Freeview adaptor plugged into your laptop!

so you plug in the coax lead (which was still plugged into the wall), and used the software on the laptop to scan for channels and it found nothing?
Is it set to scan for uk channels.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
