so you plug in the coax lead (which was still plugged into the wall), and used the software on the laptop to scan for channels and it found nothing?

Is it set to scan for uk channels.

Wait do you want me to plug the coax lead directly into the laptop or into the USB TV thing via the converter thing so it can fit in..

Honestly, no I'm not. But I had a Freeview box before and I got all the channels fine, and my neighbour does too!

Just a thought... Are you using Windows XP Media Centre edition.... If so you need to make sure your device drivers are BDA and MCE compatible or you will not recieve a signal no matter what you do. Windows media centre requires BDA compatible drivers to work... I found this out the hard way with my Freecom USB-DVB-t device and had to use the Yakumo DVB-T drivers to get it to work in Media centre (although it installed on Vista no problems using just the windows drivers)

Check on the box to see if its windows media centre compatible.. If not most of the BDA drivers for USB DVB-T devices can work. You will have to install a set... try the Yakumo or freecom ones.

They will require a manual install which means when you insert your DVB-T stick you will have to tell windows to install the drivers from the folder you create when you download and extract the drivers

Okay well I uninstalled the other software, now when I plug in my USB thing the new hardware thing doesn't come up, am I ok to install the freecom drivers?

Try using a different USB port or you could try and go into the device manager and find your device and do the upgrade driver thing

I did try other USB ports, and I uninstalled the software/driver so it's not in device manager..
