Spent a hell of a lot more than I was expecting today. OH bought himself a car to get to work in. It means that I don't have to get up at silly o'clock with him anymore, but it also means that we will be spending more on petrol and insurance now.

The car itself only cost £230 and has tax and MOT until November, so quite a bargain, but still £230 more than I was expecting to be spending today lol. We'll have to see how things go, because it means that we will have less spare money than I was expecting us to have.

After having checked my bank account, I've now realised that this impulse purchase has killed my chance of a fee-free OD this month :( I hope he appreciates the things I do for him :)

So... last night was a bit of another wake up call. I've done the maths again, and we can just about afford for us both to have a car each. Looks like we won't be going on any holidays any time soon though - bye bye August holiday :(

It leaves us both with about £150 spare each month for our own spending / debt overpayments, so I've gone from "I can be debt-free a year earlier than expected!" to "I don't think I'm going to even make my target".

It shows how much things can flip in a matter of days though. It also shows that my luck holds - everytime I seem to be getting sorted, something comes and throws me back to square one...

Apologies... feeling pretty annoyed and beating up on myself over this. I should have just said not until I was out of my overdraft. I should have this, I should have that, but I didn't, and now I have to pay the consequences of it.

Sorry to hear about that D3mon, I know that feeling, it's like one step forward and three back sometimes. Our van bills mean it's unlikely we'll get our planned holiday this year too. It's very frustrating!

Hopefully you manage to come up with something to help you reach your target, how much does this set you back by?

I've just worked it out again, and it doesn't set me back by all that much, which is a huge relief! I think getting a nice chunk of it gone this month just past has helped a lot though too. So glad I did that!

Yesterday was mainly me beating myself up for not saying no, and for not being sensible. I think I was just making myself feel worse, seeing how much more I would have to pay out, but I see now that that's mainly because OH is no longer going halves on the car payments and petrol in all fairness. So basically, the reason I have so little money, is because I was stupid a few years ago, and am still paying for a car on HP :p which was always the case, but OH paying half just dulled the pain :D

According to my spreadsheet, if I'd thrown the full £500 at the debt, I would have paid it all off by May 2011, so a lot sooner than my estimates the other day :). It now says that it will take me until about Nov 2011, so not much later than I was expecting when I had more money to put towards it lol.

Of course, this still relies on not having any holidays etc until it's sorted, but I should still make it before my 30th, even if I have another blip like this weekend!

Glad it doesn't seem so bad this morning, and fingers crossed there are no more blips!

I made up lunch for OH yesterday, and only after he'd gone did I realise that I'd used the last of the last loaf for him. I had thought that we had another in the cupboard, but apparently that was it. I ended up taking about 4 or 5 slices of HM cake, which I ate at intervals during the day. I also stayed away from the canteen, apart from in the late afternoon when there was an email announcement that there were free yogurts from Muller in there :D

I was still pretty hungry by the end of the day, and I could feel the shakiness / wooziness I get when my blood sugar drops (but apparently I'm not diabetic - I think I worry about that because my gran is). I probably really shouldn't drive when I'm like that - my brain seems to run in slow motion - but don't have much choice when I've driven myself into work. I got home with no mishaps though so it's all good

OH gets home about 1/2 hr before me now he has his own car, so it gives him time to put food on so tea is mostly cooked by the time I get in. During the week we tend to have the ready meal things from Farmfoods, like chicken dinners and fish and chips, because they are no hassle to do when we get in from work, and this week it only cost us £10 for 10 of them. They aren't massive dinners and they probably aren't as good for us as if we'd cooked it ourselves but they serve their purpose, and we do eat better on the weekend. I need to start getting more use out of my slow cooker too! Anyone have a good chilli recipe that's not too hot? I love chilli in a jacket potato with cheese melted on the top! Om nom nom :D

I'm a bit useless when it comes to cooking in the week too, especially at the moment because I don't particularly like the kitchen in the house we moved into (got to get over that as we can't afford to do it up yet!!) I miss my old kitchen which was small but perfectly formed :D This one is small, 40 + years old, and very badly designed :( Oh well, I'll get a nice shiny new one one day!

When I make chilli, I just fry up some onions and garlic, add the mince, and then cheat by buying a tin of kidney beans in chilli sauce :D:D. It works out cheaper than buying a sauce, and I would need the kidney beans anyway. The sauce is not too hot, and I usually add some more chilli powder and stuff anyway. So I don't have a 'proper' chilli recipe I'm afraid, but it's pretty cheap and it's fine.

I love my slow cooker, but haven't used it since we moved. There is nothing like coming home from work and your dinner is done!

11 days since I last posted... oops :o

    July has officially fallen apart.

We've spent £230 on a car, £126 on insurance for it, and now £100 on the August holiday. Plus the ex still hasn't sent in his proof documents to move forward with the house sale so we're going to have to pay the mortgage this month which is another £425. So a lovely total of £881 not budgeted for and wasn't expecting to spend .

And if that wasn't good enough for you, OH still hasn't been paid his overtime for last month or this month just gone! That was supposed to be covering the car and insurance at least.

    *BIG SIGH*

Does it ever sort itself out? Does it ever get easier? :(

Gutting! I can't believe they've messed up your OH's wages again!

It can only get easier as we get rid of more of our debt! (She says hopefully...)
