Only £200 "official" debt left... the rest is to family and the ex, both of which are pay back when I can. I'm getting to the point now where I feel like I'm out of debt and don't know what to do with myself, even though there is that £1.7k left to go... that just doesn't feel like "real debt". I really have to get out of this way of thinking as these last two still count towards the Debt Free By Thirty goal I set when I first had my lightbulb moment! I don't want to let myself down!::: Total Paid Since LBM (27/05/10): £4639.85 Official Debt Gone!! :T ::::AThat money talks, I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"~ VSP2011: #104 ~

I've been away for a while, but feel like this is the time in my life to revisit this site. I didn't quite hit my goal of debt free by thirty, but I was quite close. All the official debt was gone so I feel happy with that. Several big changes have also occurred, including ditching the guy I was with, and finding an awesome, amazing, wonderful man who means the world to me.

Debt at LBM (27 May 2010): £5639.85
Total paid off since LBM: £4639.20
Although I feel bad about it, I've not had any contact with my ex for over seven years, and as we parted on very bad terms, I'm considering the money owed as written off for the time being.
Not counting that one, I've managed to pay off all of the debt that I had accumulated prior to finding this site back in 2010, for a total of £4639.20. I think that this is an impressive feat.
I've grown up and I've learned a lot. I have two credit cards that I use, but they are both paid in full each month. I still have my overdraft, but although it has been utilised a couple of times, I no longer live in it. However, even with all the lessons that I learned from this site the first time round, I still have new debts this year. I believe that these are "good debts", but I still wish to pay them off as soon as is possible.
Home Improvements (Roof & Boiler)..........£8050.66 (Initially £9000)
New Car....................................£8132.00
Debt at Rejoining (26 Aug 2014): £16182.66
Total paid off since Rejoining: £0
Both of these were required loans - the roof was leaking, the boiler was broken, and my car was barely running. Both are for 5 years and so will be paid off by 2019 regardless, but I'd like to get them paid off before then.
There are no penalties to paying off the home improvement loan, so that is the one that will be tackled first. The plan of action is to save as much as I can between now and the end of the year. I will then evaluate how much I have managed to accumulate, and decide how much I can afford to overpay on the loan.
I also have a mortgage to think of, that I'd also like to get paid off as soon as I can, but this is something that I will consider in the future when I am better placed financially.
So yes, I'm back and I have new (much bigger!) debts, but this time, I'm in a much better position - I'm not scrambling to survive - I feel like I'm in control :j::: Total Paid Since LBM (27/05/10): £4639.85 Official Debt Gone!! :T ::::AThat money talks, I don't deny, I heard it once, it said "Goodbye"~ VSP2011: #104 ~
