Yay! It will be so good when it's finally gone from your record!

I would say there's no harm in trying for compensation - if you don't ask, you don't get. You could work out how much extra your debts have cost you due to the CCJ - by not being able to get good deals or being refused credit or something. Come up with a figure then add a bit more

What's SOL on your signature? I'm probably being dense....

ETA: Yep, think I just figured it out - spending on lunch or something??

  • Just got off the phone to Consumer Council for Water. They are closing my case now as they have been informed by Severn Trent that the paperwork has been sent to the correct court. I asked the woman about compensation, but she said that ST have told her they will not consider any further good will as they've already refunded me for the court costs :(

I'm not particularly happy about that answer, though I will be so relieved when that CCJ is finally removed that I don't think I'll care so much. At least it will be gone!!

    Saving on Lunches :)

The number of days I don't buy anything for lunch and take something with me... though today may not be one of them. Was lazy and didn't make the tuna mayo like I planned, so no lunch for me, or spend £2.50 which I'm not sure I've got on me :(

Oh that's really nice of them to have paid your court costs when you didn't even deserve the CCJ anyway ?!?!?! That stinks. But at least you will get rid of the CCJ which is the most important thing!

Was talking to OH this morning, and he was saying that he's got hardly any money left now to last until payday. And it was only last week how he was saying how he'd paid everything already and couldn't believe how much he'd got left! I told him to start a spending diary, but I get the feeling that he doesn't believe me that it will help at all.

I think the problem is that it's "£1.50 here" and "£2 there", and he doesn't quite realise how much it all adds up. I thought I was pretty good until I started my diary, and then I saw how bad I really was! I think if he can do it, it will give him a bit of a shock. He did say that he realises that if he spends £2 a day on sandwiches at work, that it would add up to around £40 a month, but I don't think that it has fully sunk in that it's £40! :D

After having said that, the money he has got left, essentially his "spending money", is double what I've got left in my spending money account for the rest of the month, so he's still doing better than me lol

  • It's taken nearly 5 months of chasing them, two letters of complaint, and opening a case with Consumer Council for Water, but Severn Trent have finally sent the correct paperwork through to the court. I've just called the courts up, and they have said that my case has been seen by the judge and it has been marked to be removed from the judgements file! She said that they are quite busy so it could take up to a month, but it is finally there!

Yay to the removal of the CCJ, that is fab news :j:j:j:j

I haven't dared to do a spending diary, I dread to think how much I am frittering away! Maybe I'll be brave enough one day.

  • This morning I have:
    • made sure that my budget software is up to date, along with my spending diary
    • checked my lottery ticket - not a winner :(:p
    • put in my gas and electric meter reads online
    • set up the direct debit for gas / electric online
The direct debit automatically came up at £80 a month, which seems a bit high. It was £81 a month when I was paying off arrears which are all gone now! I phoned them up and found that the meter reads had updated the bill on their end already, but not on mine just yet. For Aug - Oct the bill is at about £67, so about £22 a month, which is a huge difference to my direct debit. I'm going to wait until the Jan bill comes in, as that will cover mostly winter months, but I'm sure that I won't be using that much. I was hoping to get it down to closer to £50 a month for both. I'm stuck with my provider until at least Dec, though they did offer to switch me to a cheaper tariff that they do to save £30 a year, but would also lock me into them for another year. Will have to discuss it with OH later.

  • Yesterday I took the time to go and find my local credit union. They are based quite close to where I work, so I was able to go there on my dinnerbreak. I've done all the paperwork to set it up, and hopefully the standing order will be set up ready for when I get paid at the end of the month. It's going to be my emergency fund, as that way I can keep it completely seperate from my budgeting fund. They told me that I can also split my savings with them into several "pots" so that I can start a holiday or christmas fund too. I just have to let them know how to share it out as they will still only get the one payment.

Yesterday was doing well and was on track for a NSD, but then we had to buy our costumes for the 16th/80th birthday party. It's a Disney/cartoon theme, and we've gone for Mr and Mrs Incredible... it should be interesting to say the least... If I get a good pic of us both in our costumes I might post it on here :D

Today has also started out as a spending day, as my work shoes have officially had it now, and are coming apart at the seams. I've bought some new ones on ebay so hopefully these will last til the end of the week and my new ones should arrive at the weekend. I might even buy a dress later, if I can justify £40 for it. It does look amazing, but I just don't normally spend that much on clothes so it's a strange one for me. It's not like I have loads of dresses either... I've only got 2 at the minute, and they are both ones that I have made myself, so it would be a nice treat :) I'm also going to go through my current clothes and ebay/freegle the lot pretty much, as they are all either too big, too small, or I just haven't worn them for years.

I think I'm on a bit of a spending spree to try to cheer myself up. I've had to download the new patch for World of Warcraft yesterday and had to leave it downloading overnight, but it looks like I'm not going to be playing for a while :( My poor pc has all the settings down at minimum, but the best she can manage is 2 fps  It's completely unplayable, and I honestly nearly cried when I first tried it this morning. My baby has lasted for over 5 years, and she's as upgraded as she can be, but it looks like I'm going to have to face the fact that she is now obsolete :( I need to find £600 from somewhere to get the parts to build a new one... anyone got any ideas?
