Who has been made redundant and is enjoying the time off?

Why would people want to sit in and stare at the same 4 walls day in day out?
After 2wks or so in the house, I'm raring to get back to work. 3wks I think is the max before I think I would be pulling my hair out.0 -

Eh? Always seem to have plenty to do. Don't remember once saying to myself that I was bored in the last 2 years.

I don't know how I managed to fit work in before with all the running about I've had to do since being made redundant!!0

Same here lol. Plenty enough to do with going to the gym, long leisurely visits to museums, exhibitions and art galleries (obviously not at weekends) or just spending the afternoon outside reading a book. I also really appreciate the fact that I do have plenty of time to clean my flat everyday (it is absolutely spotless, which it certainly wasn't before!) and that I can do the supermarket shop at quiet times. Zero stress... I do have a small self-employed thing going on but at the moment I'm just keeping it on tick-over mode.0

I have managed to do things that I couldn't do when I was working as well, because if I wasn't at work I was with my kids! My house is spotless too and I've managed to get the outside of my house painted by myself and potted my hanging baskets! I've even visited the cemetery where my much loved grandparents are buried and had a few little chats to them whilst looking after their graves!! I know that probably soun ds a bit mad but I never had the time before.0

I was made redundant two weeks ago and am enjoying it at the moment, especially with teh good waether, but don't want to get too carried away in case saying that it is a good thing comes to haunt me.
I have been able to do the things that I didn't have time to do before - going to the gym six times a week, reading, hiking and have just started a discreet daytime only affair so life's not too bad. Make hay!0 -
Not me yet, I finish at the end of August though.0

I also had already asked for the summer off as unpaid leave as here in Northern Ireland our kids get off for 9 weeks and had been saving for this! I was devestated at first though and I did have about 2 weeks of living in my Pjs! My dad is not well (he has MS) so it looks as though I will become his full-time carer. I will have help though and at least I'll be able to bring the children to 'work ' with me. I'm looking on it as the next chapter in my life. As my youngest has said, 'it's the job that's redundant mummy, not you'!!
That's one wise child you have there - ie that youngest one of yours:D
I've had spells of unemployment before now - because of redundancies. I took exactly that view - ie that it was the job that was redundant and not me. I hadn't caused the redundancy to happen - and obviously I was worried about the financial aspect of being unemployed.
I decided the best way to look at it was to think "It could have happened to anyone and is no reflection on ME. I have money worries because of it - but I will do what I can to deal with that and then look at the positive side of the situation = at least my time is now my own for the time being, so I will do what I want and enjoy having some extra time for myself".

I know exactly what you mean.
I'm just resigned by now to my home being rather a tip - as there is my job, my life and the housework - and there simply isnt enough time for all three. Hence - I cant abandon the job, I wont abandon my life - so its the housework that has to go short and the place is obviously going to be a bit of a tip until that distant time when I retire. Not my fault -so I ignore that as much as I can. I dont like having a house that is usually untidy and never as clean as I would like - but if its a choice between my life and the house - the house loses.0 -
