Lol! It really is amazing that they are still in business. Actually, there's 2 new negative reviews on TA advisor today.

"best thing about this place is the location and the exterior, walking through the doors takes you into some sort of time warped universe where customers are an inconvenience and courtesy and basic cleanliness are optional extras." ... a very good description of this place IMO!

Makes it sound like Fawlty Towers! I'd love to visit this place just for comedy value, however I'm too far away.....

My god. Just checked out the reviews for the first time in a long time ..... blazing donkeys r still a mix of terrible and excellent so I guess that depends on whether u r friends and family. But it led me to the dog inn reviews. Wow, they are horrendous and particularly damning about the manager. Glad its not just us who had a problem with him, just a shame he does not improve things despite all the negative feedback. :(

I was struck by the number of rave reviews from people who have never reviewed a hotel before they stayed at the Blazing Donkey - not that I am cynical!

I'm so glad original poster that you got your money back :T:beer::Tbut what a lot of faff and hassle you had to go through.:mad::mad:

I used to live in Deal(many years ago now) but I don't remember this pub.

I am shocked at the variety of the reviews on the other site mentioned. If I wasn't so tired, I would be inclined to see how similar the positive reviews are......

I almost wish I was an undercover spy / working for watchdog.... and could visit the hotel and get the inside story :D
  • A former member of staff of Richard Martin has submitted an interesting review here at tripadvisor yesterday:

    http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowUserReviews-g947602-d620389-r121409331-Blazing_Donkey-Ham_Kent_England.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT

Good to hear the inside story but sad to hear that he really does seem to treat everyone, customers and staff alike as all the reviews (for the Blazing Donkey, Ham and The Dog Inn, Wingham) suggest.
  • tee hee, how funny! I used to drink in the blazing donkey about twenty years ago... I remember the west indies cricket team being in there drinking one night while I was still at school doing a-levels! That made it a posh place in my book lol!! :rotfl:
Seems its not so nice these days!
(And Ham is defo Sandwich NOT Deal!):D

  • Looks like he's had the staff review taken down as I cant find it despite trying

I'm confused, as according to some online articles, Richard Martin is the owner?
