Morgan, when you ask for advice you have 2 options, take it or ignore it.

Don't blame folks on here if you have found a 3rd one, ie, totally object to it, and I still don't think you are too smart, :kisses3::kisses2:

When someone asks for advice you have 2 options
Answer the question or ignore it

    And fyi I'm a !!!!!!! genius :D
your just a typical woman, too busy shouting about how your always right.
maybe its time you !!!!!! and actually listened to what folk are telling you here. only then will it be worth anyone else adding to this thread.

I didn't ask to be lectured
The caps were to emphasise the point some people were clearly ignoring

    Oh and it's you're
    Not your
but the point being, why does the op worry about a few quid of extra fuel when they are re financing thousands of pounds? it makes absoloutly no sense.

it may come across chauvinistic but im afraid it is a stereotypical woman thing to do. spend thousands to save a few quid, when really they arent interested in saving the money, its just a poor excuse to buy something new and shiney at any cost.
the op being a student with a child moaning about how much fuel a fiesta uses is hardly in a strong financial position,so the best option is to keep current car, take some time and look after it and it will look after them, then in a few years car will be paid off with no finance owing and they then own the car with no more payments. after 3 years cars don't suddenly fall to bits, over the course of 5 years i doubt that fiesta would cost £500 per year in maintenance, and im including tyres, brakes exhaust when needed in that.

If that was the primary reason for wanting a new car, I would say it
I certainly don't need to dress it up for a bunch of strangers over the internet
but thats the thing, the op doesn't have even £1000 either, its all credit.

    fur coat and no knickers.

    I like it :D

Yes it's chauvinistic and it's certainly not stereotypical as I know more men who do this than women - and no they're not all fleet drivers :p

Morgan, when you negotiate your new car do you pay list price or does the dealer offer you incentives? I know people on this thread have tried to explain that the dealer gets his money no matter what but I don't think they've explained how. Sorry if the following sounds patronising but I'd feel better if I explained it.

List price is not standard and it is expected that you'll haggle. But with your method I suspect you hand back your car, pay full price for a new one and continue paying for a finance package that includes interest. Effectively you are paying over the odds twice, once because you are paying full price and twice because you are paying interest on the loan. Your local dealership loves you because they get all this extra cash. However please tell me if I'm wrong

I believe your intended question was for recommendations on a car that had day to day economical running costs. It may be an idea to provide a few more details such as annual mileage and general road usage e.g. motorways, town etc before anyone can suggest a suitable car.

The finance package is interest free for 3 years. At the 3 year point you have the option of paying the remander of the finance outright, carry on with payments but with interest or get a new car.

I don't pay list price. I, or my dad :D sorts out the monthly payments. They say £200 he says I can only afford X amount then we meet in the middle.
Anything under £200 is a bonus for me. I get my new car for a lot less than my limit so I'm happy

I honestly don't see it as a waste of money. I get a new car out of it every few years and it's always withing my budget

And you're totally right. My intended question was for an economical car within my budget. Im obviously crap at getting across what I actually want :D

My annual mileage is anywhere between 15 to 20,000 pa (it totally depends where my uni placements are. Some are close to home, some are miles away)
It's total mix of motorway and town driving. Probably more motorway really

So effectively you're leasing - but that can work too if the sums add up.

I would be wary about the lack of servicing though. I suspect you got away with it once but in general a yearly service is the minimum to fulfil the contract.

Hopefully someone will be along to advise on a suitable new car

Car either new or around 6 months old and cheap(er) to run

Any ideas what sort of thing i should be looking at?

And you gave me this -
By far the best option if you want a cheaper car to run is to buy them at a year old and keep them longer, far better than buying new, (asumption on my part), and only keeping for 2 years, massive cost hit that way. ;);)

So the cheapest car to run is the one you have at present :D

That's giving me your opinion on what I 'should' be doing, not answering what I actually asked

Dumbarse? !!!!!!!! plank? Typical Woman? !!!!!!?

Nice that some of you are able to keep it civil :T

    Apologies for remaining lighthearted throughout

    As for being foul mouthed?
I notice you don't seem to have a problem with your own language nor that of a previous poster's !!!!!! remark
