I was put onto this by a local tv shop.
Basically I rang sky to cancel the sports channels for the summer ( I have the full package and sky +)
Initially she offered me free sports for 6 months.Great I thought but then I mentioned I was thinking of going to HD when the football season starts again and would it be a problem.
I was then offered a free HD box, free installation AND no monthly charges for the 1st 6 months if I kept the sports channels for the next year.
Good offer or what :D

Indeed, nothing is ever " free " from Sky.

So over the next year you will pay Sky £642 or £53.50 a month, that's how much it costs when it's "free"

so you got freesat totally free of charge did you ?
    you didn't have to buy a box ? or a dish ? or a new tv ?

you know I come on here to give other sky users a bit of info on how to get a good deal...that's what this site is for after all....and I all get is the pedantic !!!!
    shan't bother in future
  • Don't take offence. Many of us are cynical towards the $ky empire, not with you.

If you get a good deal with pay tv, you should let others know.

I would just urge caution with the use of the word 'free'. (You are obviously aware of this as you qualified the word 'free' with the adverb 'totally', which implies that there are somehow degrees of freeness.)

In Portugal, supermarkets cannot say 'buy one, get one free', as this is considered misleading: they use the terminology 'take two, pay for one'.

The point that I, and others, are making is that the term free is both used and abused, and $ky happens to be one of the biggest abusers.
