  • Sounds like signing up for a monthly budget scheme would be the way to go, if paying for a bulk delivery is difficult?

Due to the overwhelming price of oil in the current climate I have been trying to get a supplier to supply me with a lower quantiy of oil as i cannot afford the ludicriously high price of 500 litres. I know many companies offer 400 or 450 liters min order quantites but I'm still struggling to afford to pay for this coming up to Christmas. I emailed valueoils and they rang me back. They told me that their min quantity for delivery was 300 litres @ £154 which is more appealing to me even though I could have got 500L for this price 6 months ago but at the same time try getting 300 litres for this price from any other company! here is the website if you want to check them out http://www.valueoils.com

I know some areas have started a stamp scheme for oils companys. Antrim Council do it, you buy saving stamps (available from a number of shops) then use them to pay for your oil when you need it. I think a number of oil companies are part of this so you can still 'shop around'

  • just a lil note about value oils, calls charged at 55p per min !!!!

It pays to fill up the tank in August/September is all I can say.
Often that can be the case however the oil price isn't being driven by the time of year at present. It has been rising steadily throughout the year but since the 'credit crunch' and turmoil in the market in August/September it started rising at a much steeper rate. The average prices for oil this year for 900 litres were (approx)

My last fill was in February but I may need a fill just before Christmas (which is worrying).
