None of the above are sports cars. The cheapest real sports car is the Porsche Boxster. An Astra??!0

OK - my title is a big of a mistake..
It should be.. "I'm an MSE'er who's 22 so expensive things are out the question and want a car that goes faster than my current 1.6.. oh and I like sports"
I thought that was a bit too long though[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

Really, the list provided by PPP Lasers comprises all sports cars (possibly with the exception of the GTV) and all cheaper than a Boxster :
Mazda MX-5
Honda S2000
BMW Z3
Alfa GTV (ok maybe not as reliable as the above)
Fiat Barchetta
Lotus Elise0 -
The Porsche Boxster isnt a sports car. It's a car for the people who cant afford a real sports car...
One serioulsy under rated sports car is the Honda S2000... 9000rmp whoooooooooooo0 -
Neighbour is selling an R33 for £3.5k rated at 410bhp.........0

MX-5.
That's all I'm going to say.
Second that - great little sporty roadster.
I was looking at Lease prices the otherday - broadly similar level to what the OP says he was paying for his Focus.2009 wins: Signed Saxon CD, Solar Torch, Drumsticks, Priest Feast Tix, Watch, Hammerfest tix :beer:0 -
You can get a Toyota Celica for £5k no problem, go for the 190bhp versions which scream to 8,000 RPM. Sounds like you're looking for a hot hatch though. Just don't buy ANYTHING until you check the insurance at your age! And don't assume that 'sports cars' are more expensive to insure...0

Agree with the Celica and a GT should be within your price range which is already fitted with TTE springs as standard so far better cornering. However if you will be mainly driving in towns / short journeys I would say look at the 140 as its gearing makes it slightly faster before "lift" on the 190.
I had a 140 for 7 years (just sold it 3 weeks ago due to wanting a CC) and never had a single problem.Totally Debt Free & Mortgage Free Semi retired and happy0 -

The Boxster definitely is a sports car. Read the reviews it gets, they've pretty much only got great things to say about it.0 -
.......... a 1.8 Astra is bad enough, but a 1.8 Twintop?!
Good luck is all I can say. Fuel bills and stuck roofs are coming your way. Not only that but it'll be the slowest thing imagineable.0
