I'll come back when someone mentions a real "sportscar".

    For a lease/price of under £300 a month?

Guess we'll never see you around here again ;)

A hot hatchback is fine :p

I'm sorry but an Astra is not a sports car, no matter what they shove under the bonnet. Its a front-wheel-drive borefest. The only Vauxhall that could be considered a sports car is the VX2000.

These are cheap sports cars that will hold their value, and which will be reliable and not expensive to repair:

    Mazda MX-5
    Honda S2000
    BMW Z3
Alfa GTV (ok maybe not as reliable as the above)
    Fiat Barchetta
    Lotus Elise

You've also got your BMWs, your older (but entirely serviceable and brilliant to drive) Porsches like the 944 or the 928.

Pretty much agree with them. Wife has an MR2 roadster which other than dodgy batteries, has never missed a beat in 5 years. Celica might be worth considering too. The lotus is gorgeous car (if I could I would cut n shut the rear of the first gen, with the front of the 2nd gen, always wanted one!) but you wouldn't want one as an every day car. If you can find a nice example of the GTV, esp the v6 then I would have that without a second through. Shame that 99% of alfa's are money pits!

Consider a 350Z too, recently sold mine, good car, especially roadster version.

But as others - VX Astra is not a sports car - never in a million...

I'm not after a sports sports car :P Way too expensive for me right now :) Plus it'd cost way too much on insurance haha.

I'm looking for a sportier hatchback.. something a little faster than a 1.4 focus ya know? :p

i've actually got my eye on a couple of 350Z's, nice looking cars, but the insurance for myself is coming up to around £900. thats with, like, £2000 compulsory excess ;)

as a comparison, my Ford Focus (1.8 TDDI, my age:30) is coming in at around £350.
