BOB'S CUNNING PLAN 2- 'Cos the other one failed and i blame Baldrick

I am not a very good patient when i am in hospital Se999, i think i always have a problem putting myself in others hands. It used to be easier when she was younger because we were in a lot of the day- so things could be chased up easily. In a way the parents are advocates for the patients. Some of it is because she is confined to the bed a lot of the time and can't move, she has to wait for everything and sometimes this kind of waiting is not really good as she gets anxious. It will get sorted, i just hate seeing her so down and wish i could do more.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

If by being a good patient, you mean being a compliant patient, then I would point out it is often those that compliant themselves onto a post-mortem table.
I find it disappointing that you were unable to get a doctor in a reasonable length of time. I'm not sure whether the fact it is the weekend should count as being out of the ordinary. Where I live, weekends happen most weeks, and people tend to cope with predictable events.
I had a relative visiting her father in hospital not so long ago, and when she was getting no joy in a similar fashion to you, marched up to the front desk and asked for a complaint form. A doctor was there so quickly there were skid-marks.
However, she takes no shit, in any amount, in any form, from anyone. She's one of those kinds of people."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Hi Bob
Really hope your daughter is better soon. Diabetes really is a pain. Especially when you do everything you possibly can to get it 'right' and it still goes haywire. There are some wonderful drs etc out there and i know we'd be stuffed without them and at the end of the day they are only human but when they suffer from selective deafness, miss what's obvious to us laypeople and get impatient with us because we don't fit the 'profile' we should grr and double grr.
Your daughter sounds a starr and I'm sure she will find away through it all especially with your love and support.0 -
they really do seem to be taking a long time to get her sorted...it must be very stressful for all of you.0

I must admit, i was going to do that- but DD asked me not to:o The doctor couldn't get it into the vein, and ended up having to abandon it. A nurse did it in the end:cool: I think it must be junior doc rotation time.
I agree about the weekend bit as well..it seems that the doctor was on call there and across the hospital and they had a lot of admitted patients at the weekend all in the afternoon and they were on the medical assessment unit ( their explanation) DD was on there as well and i know how busy that is. I am not justifying their decision-at all i think it is unacceptable to wait that long. She ended up injecting herself for a bit.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Thanks Angela- there are wonderful docs out there and on the whole i really don't complain about it at all. They do suffer from selective deafness, it does make me laugh at how they conduct themselves at times. The weird thing is that the consultants are the ones who generally do listen..obviously they have learned by that stage:cool::rotfl:

More frustrating really Taxi than anything else- I am tired so that doesn't help. Still we have a supportive family and that does help:DBlackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
