Crikey Bob, just caught up on Diary . Hopefully things are beginning to turn a corner? Why can't people do their jobs right the first time ?
If DD2 is anything like you she'll cope with all this. Can think of a better gap year though!
Take care of yourself while you ate taking care of everybody else . Xx
    :D:D stay wonky :D:D

....one-way ticket to Portugal booked !
  • I am getting there myself health wise, i certainly feel a lot better now. My head is clearer and although i am still sleeping for about 5 hours-ish, it seems to be good sleep. Mr.B seems to have been feeling it a bit as well. I have to give praise to DS who has made tea on several occasions this week, as well as working himself- and his dad has been off all week :/ I don't know what i would have done without him this week.

DD seems a bit perkier this morning too-she has already sent a text, so that is a sign of improvement :)
Gran has stopped falling over and is back to ringing every hour :( She has become increasingly forgetful so things are changing on that front.

Hi Pepe- yep i never have a quiet life do i?

Thanks for all your thoughts re deferring the year. I do feel as each day goes on that it is the right decision for her, you never know she may decide to do something radical with her life and this could be the changing point for her.

Bob, so sorry to hear about your DD - but the good thing is she seems to be getting better. Worrying about defering her degree place is not probably what she or you should be worrying about. Her main task is to get better - when this happens she can do anything.

    Thinking of you all.

  • You are right of course, Firewalker- she can do so much more when she is better.

DD will be in hospital for a few more days yet, bloods have to come back and the consultant won't be seeing her until Tuesday- unless she gets the results quilckly- which i doubt. She is a bit happier, but confined to bed and bored- which is a good sign, as her brain is becoming more active.

Had a little giggle this afternoon, so i will have to keep my energy up for tonight's visit. With that in mind i went and bought one of my fav comfort foods= salted peanuts..nom nom. Don't know why, but i turn to them before choccy :( In fact i walk right past chocolate to get to them..lol

Pupil was ok this Am as well, i am so glad i made the decision to go with the school because, it has meant i can earn a living and be there for my daughter..an example of having what you need at the right time i think.

  • Had a good visit tonight with DD, it helped that my brother and family came as well. He has a worse sense of humour than i do and had us all in stitches with it.

DD still hasn't managed to eat anything properly yet, but plenty of fluids and glucose going in, so she will be ok.

On other fronts have had a good catch up with one of my best friends. So not a bad evening for Friday night. If only i had vino instead of tea.. :)

  • A nice day here:D

DD just gave me a phone call and she has managed to eat her breakfast-:j:j:j So i think things are progressing in the right direction.:D

I will have to put some more credit on the TV for her- which takes me up to about £40 on the bloomin thing:o Absolute rip off that is, but an essential piece of equipment for when you can't move or need to contact folk.:o:o:o

Have a small list of things to do, but am not in the mood for doing any of them...so will have to have another cuppa to wake up- oh dear what a shame:D:rotfl::rotfl:

I also have another problem, well not a problem as such- but the usual.

I have a long weekend booked in London next weekend with the guides, i have paid for it all and it has been a struggle to do with various things going on. Now with DD going in hospital and the way things are, i am unsure whether to go. I don't want her coming home and things go bad again, but i also have the dilemma of having to spend any small stash i had on DD getting better. I don't have to fund Uni at the moment:o and i have other money aside, but when i don't work i don't get paid- so that is the other side of things i need the money to pay for essentials like mortgage and food. Sometimes life just sucks a bit.

It is an exploitation of ill folk who have no real choices for where they are. As you can probably tell, it gets my goat...

Does this mean that Ms BOB will be BOBIH? ;)

    Well the questions are:
    • Can you afford it?
    • Would you enjoy it at all?
    • Is Mr B capable of looking after her while you're away?

If you cancel it just because of DD, she'll feel like crap...

Yes i think it may well do:rotfl:

    Well the questions are:
    • Can you afford it?Yes, i am just thinking ahead, pretty good at talking myself out of a lot of stuff. I was just a bit shook up this month with the amount of things that went on.
    • Would you enjoy it at all?I would, they are great company.
    • Is Mr B capable of looking after her while you're away?No comment:rotfl:

And therein lies the crux- she would feel awful. I feel pretty carp- got to hospital and she has to have another drip in because that one blocked. The drip they took out left blood everywhere and it wouldn't stop bleeding. She just burst into tears and had a good old cry.:o:o Took her to have a shower and then stripped the bed as the nurses hadn't changed it today. So she felt better, as we left the docs were coming to re do the drip. A whole two hours without the insulin, she needs and that is classed as urgent:mad: Feel a bit p******d off about the whole episode, quite frankly. Still the nurses had rang the docs several times, i suppose with it being the weekend and there are few docs on call.

Just hope she feels ok tonight it is so up and down.

Sorry to hear today went downhill again after such a good start.

On the going away thing, it is already paid so unless you can get the money back in a lot of ways it would be good to go. I know once when OH had just been made redundant (one of a few times!!!) we wondered about putting off a visit to see relatives, it had taken over 6 months to sort out dates etc., we hadn't paid up front, so it was a cost thing too. We were so pleased we went ahead and did it.

But ultimately it probably depends on DD and how things work out as to if you'll feel comfortable going away, also how long would it take you to get back if you really felt you needed to.

Sorry to hear about the hospital problems, my last experience of being an in patient on the NHS wasn't too brilliant either unfortunately.
