  • Went for a visit to Uni with DD2 yesterday, her brother has a friend there so he was able to point her in the direction of a few things. Had a tour as well and laughed myself hoarse at his impromptu comments.:D DD will be fine and i feel she is happier now.

The car had a little play up as the Power steering went and then came back on again:o So that will need sorting and may scupper a few plans..hopefully it won't cost a lot and may just need fluid topping up. I got back ok and will be booking it in garage in the morning.

So i got back late and was nice to walk through the door, and put central heating on- yep it felt a bit damp with all the rain and i needed to run and check the system. So have bled the radiators and got lots of washing dried:D So was a cosy, happy evening last night. Plus i rather enjoyed Merlin:D:D

Have a few things to do today, so time for a quick mooch then better get on with them..

  • I think she will- she was having a few wobblies, as it is a big step and yesterday was really good for her. I just feel like a whole chapter has now closed and they are all on their way to making new and exciting lives for themselves.. In a way my job is now done. Well other than the financial aspect, taxi driving and other things..

I still get told off for reaching out for their hands when we are crossing the road...it is difficult to let go. I have no doubt i will continue to be embarrassing them for years to come.:rotfl:

Well booked car in today for a diagnostic check( Nissan). They showed a fault with the power steering, but it would mean a full steering column replacement to fix- which would be either £1200 for new, or £880 for reconditioned. I nearly fainted with shock.

    £38 for diagnostic

The car only has 24,000 miles on the clock and i think that is shabby to be frank.

They have reset the electrics via computer, but it is anyone's guess whether it will stay ok.

They also did a car check and i needed three tyres ( one i knew about) Two were getting ready to be replaced. That was going to be a further £50 each plus Vat,and tracking- oh and i needed two windscreen wipers:eek:

So i went elsewhere ended up ringing round and went to kwik fit. Got all four tyres replaced( it was a deal to get 4 done with a discount and was cheaper than 3) and windscreen wipers for a lot cheaper- but still cost me £130 for tyres with a discount, paid for wipers separately but the chap fitted them for nothing which was good of him.

£14 for three wipers- went the whole hog.

So not a cheap day :( But the garage will look out for deals for me an they know private mechanics as does the father of a pupil i teach. So may all be good in the long run.

Final shop of £18 for groceries.

All = me being skinto until payday..:o

So i am back home briefly and will go out and take DD2 to docs as she has been aching all over again and i think she may have another infection as blood sugars are all over the place.

But other than that everything is fine..glad when i can draw the curtain on the day.

Unfortunately they are Lucielle, i need mine for my job as i am out in the community- so to speak. Pah:cool:

But it has been done now, i will be looking into other stuff to try and scrape back some money. Car insurance due at the end of the month, but that is budgeted for. I had about £100 in car fund to see me through emergencies, that will obviously have to be a tad bigger, but it has covered some costs for today.:D

Only 24,000 miles on the clock and needs a new column? You must do a lot of steering.

My power steering squeaks if you turn it at a certain angle. It's a worn belt and it can be cured at £100 for a belt + 1 hour's labour + VAT. That was 6 years ago. Did I tell you my power steering *still* squeaks if you turn it at a certain angle... ;)

Big hugs for you and DD. :grouphug:
