  • Hi Bob, I think it's a great idea to start planning for DD's finances for next year - if you are able to help her then why not, I'm sure you're already teaching her good lessons about money and this is another one :)

Thanks Squizz:D I am not sure about DD2 learning, but she will.:rotfl:

Permitting myself a wee moan- as i did have a bit of money set aside from ages ago- had been saving it up. Then the bank swiped it when Mr.B got rid of his business account:o So i am a bit bitter about it.

Still i am learning to swallow the pill and in all honesty have learned so much on here the past few years that i am sure i will benefit from it. Instead of living in financial ignorance and relying on banks advice, i am now a lot more savvy. :D

I feel proud of the fact that i can do it and have the resources to turn my mind to it.

  • Well it has been a bit of a funny one today.

I have set in motion some things re work, and have put out feelers for better things. Challenges on MG's thread have certainly made an impact or woken me up, to just how ambitious i am.

With Job no 1- i have cut them right back to the bare minimum, i need until next wage comes in. It feels good- i also realized that they were using us quite badly, so i refuse to do more than is contractually obliged. They will be going fairly soon.
Hours have increased at Job 2- so essentially i am working less and being paid more- funny how things start to come into place.
I have also been approached to lead a twilight session on techniques i employ for the job i do. So i thoroughly agree re changing focus and seeing what happens.:D

Money wise, it is still close at the moment. Student finance have sent two letters, both of which completely contradict the other:eek: Classic.

So next year my target is definitely to pay off DD2's tuition for her, and not resort to using these idiots. Watch this space.

Have not made any overpayment's on things as yet, simply because of the need to get DD2 safely through the next few weeks. She will need a lot of support and she is going to get it.

Car renewal came through today- and it was surprisingly good. I also get another £25 off if i renew online- making it £225 for the year. I think that's not to bad, but of course i will be looking to see if i can get it cheaper- with further cashback. If not i will renew at that. It is beating a few quotes i am getting in so will see.

I will also have to look at replacing a couple of tyre's that have been flagged up on service. :( So safety first and all that. Will hunt around for best price.

That's about it for the moment.

OK, what's a twilight session? Do you turn into a sparkly vampire?

    Talking of sparkly vampires...

  • Twilight sessions are where we teach things after school, because we obviously live there all day..plus it is cheaper than a full day of training. :)

  • Sounds really good Bob :D :T

  • Merci young Squizz :)

Well today the student loan debacle took an extra twist. Letters from yesterday, well it turned out that yes they have the evidence on file:mad: But as it is evidence from family tax credits it wasn't acceptable, oh and my wage slip was the one they asked for, but it turned out they needed further evidence- * Where is that shruggy smiley when you need it*

It makes no sense to me- other than a further 2 phone calls and another special recorded delivery gone orf. Absolute pain in the bottoms- and that is me being polite.

Other than that - a good day, my insurance renewal is actually cheaper than last year with the discount, so far i have only found one that is cheaper, but doesn't have the low excess payment nor does it have a courtesy car if i need it- which i do. So i am thinking it is a no brainer really. Totally shocked but Aviva seem to be quite good at the moment.:D

Other news, i am going to give job 1 a month then pack it in for good. I have an interview with another agency next week- who will pay full scale rate. Another no brainer there as well:D Plus the offing of a small contract for mornings and the 1:1 Tuition for the evenings. This will have seen me increase my salary without the additional stress.:D I am grateful for the opportunities given me from job 1, but i am now at the level where there is no further progression and a lot of resentment at treatment and whatnot..so rather than be negative, i am being proactive.

Course starts again this next week- not sure about that one yet either. Oh and DD2 starts UNI next week- *sniffle* so that will be part of my weekend, sorting out a new wardrobe for her- just a few clothes, new pens, MG's memory book ( of course) and a little extra things which make starting new places a little easier.
Will be taking her on Monday as i am teaching nearby as well so uber money saving going on.

Other than that, i will be mulling over turnips and whatnot- drooling over fave things and planning for a better life, shredding( paper) a quick tidy, buying new printer and reading for pleasure..over to you folks.

:D I feel very good about it- it will need a lot of planning, but a good move.
