Hi Bob, good to see you're able to have a laugh about the finances :)

Not spent much time on the boards in the last few weeks so thought i should catch up with how things are with you. Looks like you have everything well in hand.

  • No student finance Taxi as yet- but got a tax rebate, which will be going into the pot in waiting. Also got paid petrol expenses, so that is a further £200 set aside..just wish they would hurry up :(

Thank Goodness it is Friday :)

  • Well not exactly a spend free day today.
    Shopping/Groceries came in at £36:D

Went shopping with DD2, she desperately needs a new bed as she has a spine problem(she damaged her coccyx years ago and has to have injections- on top of everything else) and i suppose with growth and whatnot she has outgrown her previously very expensive bed:o So we went bed trying and the one that we felt would benefit her, came in at £600:eek:

Obviously being an MSE'r i wasn't going to pay that:cool: So went back to drawing board and looked for same mattress and a bed frame that suits a young lady, with definite tastes:rotfl: Found one with the right mattress ( she had tried) etc for £328 plus delivery, cashback through Quidco on an Argos 9 months interest free, and my mum is paying half. So effectively i have to find half which just about wipes out the tax rebate. It was money i wasn't expecting and so even though i have it in the UNI fund pot..i do feel it will be wisely spent.

She has been in a lot of pain with it all, has to go for further injections and well with her general health problems, i thought it was a wise thing to do.

Luckily no cash handed over yet.

One of us will have a good sleep in this house.:D:rotfl:

So that is my wee bit of news today.

    bed sounds like a bargain
  • Urggh Monday Blues, here today.

Lack of sleep, etc and i feel a bit light headed. I thought i had the beginnings of a migraine, but it was ok. So less of the self pitying bit and onwards.

Been making an effort on the de cluttering front too, so i will have a good head space, surprising how things build up even if house looks relatively ok :/ but things sort of accumulate during the week and then no one else seems to bother. So rota's need sorting.

Money wise, i made a boob- forgot to pay something, but have not been charged ( phew) they were pretty decent about it as well. So can't moan. I seem to be so focused on other things at the moment and forgot to set up automatic payment for the month. :( Oh well, i live and learn.

Still no news from Student finance-i don't want to rely on them in the future for DD, so i am going to be making a set of targets for myself this year, one of them to be to be able to pay that off in full next year. I know a lot of folk may disagree with it, financial independence for DD etc, but i do think the system is stacked against her. Plus she can make savings herself this year and that will be going towards next year. I think it may be the start of further creative things for us both- why worry for the future when we can make things happen now? Yes MG's thread has rubbed off on me.

I do hope everyone has had a happy Monday today :)

  • Hi Bob, I think it's a great idea to start planning for DD's finances for next year - if you are able to help her then why not, I'm sure you're already teaching her good lessons about money and this is another one :)
