    Hi,

This is a genuine post. I am the man purchasing, I am using my partners account since she recommended me on this site for advice. As for my dad, me and him don't see eye to eye which is part of the problem.

Firstly, I expected a Vauxhall garage to be honest, which clearly it wasn't! It is not my fault that a main dealer lied and I choose to take their word on what was said rather than assume everyone is giving me bull.

Anyway, I went back to the dealer today to discuss the issue at hand (after being told I would be recovered at 0930-1030 I was recovered at almost 1300!!). Basically I took the hooky invoice and asked them about the sensors and if that was why I had to wait for the car to be ready, a total of 4 days, they kept looking at each other (manager & guy who sold me the car) saying 'the sensors are on the car'. After going into detail about the talks we had prior to accepting the car, the manager changed the invoice to match the information given - at which point I had him by the balls. Furthermore, I got him to say he had the car from 500 miles and it was always a Vauxhall owned car. Whilst doing this I text the previous owner who confirmed he had done 5,000 miles and it was put in on the log book (why it was only flashed to me).

After recieving a copy of the amended invoice, I then produced the paperwork showing that the garage had been lying and asked what he was going to do about it? He (manager) instantly went red, and his college was silent. After much deliberation we were able confirm that the garage were not aware of the full history and/or did find out, which I replied with 'then the information given shouldn't have been said and it was misleading and untrue'. However the manager tried to dress it up he couldn't. Also in relation to the parking sensors, he confirmed that I was entitled to a refund (without checking if what I said was true or looking at any paperwork) he claimed that he requested the work to be done. Moreover, I was able to challenge this and explain that he had apparently driven the car so didn't the beeps when parking give it away......

I have a Corsa now untill Tuesday when they open and access the fault. The AA blamed an injector/fuel pressue whatever that means but could not find where the fault was specifically - if that makes sense?

I am very disappointed that I ask for advise on here and am insulted on this issue. I put my trust in this dealer because it wasn't a back street car dealer but a registered Vauxhall dealer and was assured by friends/family that buying from a main dealer was the best way. I would be able to supply the car details, garage details and persons involved but this could make things difficult?

I am owed £198 plus interest (as I have part of the car on finance) but also the interest of the car from 25/05/2010 - 01/06/2010 as I was waiting for the car from 25th-29th whilst the 'parking sensors' were fitted and while it is waiting to be seen.

They have a main office relatively local (20mins away) should I call/write/visit them and explain the whole situation and if so will this make things more difficult when getting the car back etc. Also what should I try and get out of the garage given the above as way of compensation. I am not too bothered as to whether the extra money is refunded or put towards another gadget and if so what?

Please advise, I promise that this is true if anyone would like the full details I can always provide it. Thanks.

I apologise if you are telling the truth - it just seems suspect to me.

That said, I know someone who trusted a Ford salesman to be honest and ended up in big trouble financially for it.

I think you need to write down all the charges and what you have actually received against that.

Then decide how you'd like this to turn out.

You seem to want the car? So it's a case of deciding if you'd like more extras or financial compensation, or both, and taking it from there.

It is never a good idea to argue without a clear idea of what you hope to achieve.

    Hi,

Thanks for the post back, it is true and if you would like the details I could provide them if you 'PM' me....

I know I need an objective and I am not clear what I should have. I have been over the Vauxhall website on the build your Vauxhall bit gone to the extras but nothing really takes my fancy and the bluetooth (only one I wanted) is factory fitted only! It is a lovely car, and going from that to a Corsa is killing me, I am sure this is a one off (the AA man says its his first Insignia) but it is truely a beautiful car.

If you have any suggestions bearing in mind what I have said, for an objective of what I should recieve, please put it to me....Thanks

Nice followup post.It might be a good time to ask for a further 1 year extension to the warranty as a goodwill gesture aka you won't grass them up to Vauxhall if they do it.
I am pretty unbiased on this matter as I have had good and bad service from dealers and also a mate is a salesman in one.I wouldn't normally go chasing after "recompense" but they have blatantly lied to you and tried to cover it up.

    So now

    1) You're a man!
    2) Who has a female partner/wife he refers to as the Rottweiler!

Keep 'em coming - you've made my day! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    Hi,

Yes I am a man, but only an inch from being female ha ha! I told my partner about that dog reference, needless to say she was not impressed although it made her dad and me laugh, a lot!

Anyway, back to the car. What in your situation would you do and try to get out of them bearing in mind I would like to keep the car, I had best keep that to myself? What would you try and get from them in terms of extras? Please bear in mind I already have 1 year extended warranty on top of 2 years 2 months manufactures warranty.

I am unsure on whether to report them as I feel at this stage it could make things difficult and equally awkward when not only collecting the car, but any after sales service as well? I have considered writing to the head office once the car is fixed and the situation has been sorted, to some extend, to explain my experience. My peers tell me I should contact them immediately and maybe I would be better off doing so, but I think otherwise.

I just need some advice and/or opinions really, not being in this situation before. The manager tried to make the situation seem like a no brainer and it was fairly simple to sort out, but I should still be compensated (not in a big way - its not America after all) for my troubles (taxis etc).....

Any advise would be much appreciated.

May I suggest leaving the op's partner out of this.

I imagine she's having a difficult enough time applying for bankruptcy, without worrying about her partner having difficulties with his £15000+ car

    sappy (or sappy's b/f ?)

Some people have too much time on their hands. if you make questionable posts then someone may well question them.

It only takes a couple of minutes to create an account on MSE. 4 minutes if you have to create a new hotmail account first.

If you're going to continue using the forums then you're better off getting your own

    Ben,

I don't really use forums (other than on ebay) but this topic is one I am very keen on getting some advice. Whilst I appreciate your point on creating an account, my previous post 46, was very straight forward I thought. I would be grateful if you and others contributed on that post rather than advise me on opening an account.

    I would be grateful

I made the comment as a piece of friendly/helpful advice.

You can be as grateful as you want. But on forums such as MSE there are people quite happy to pick away at any holes they find. and they wont take any notice of your requests.
