yes my gp is fully aware that i cant walk far, i have tried to get help from organisations but all they tell me is to write to dla no one will do anything on my behalf which i need i have been treated by the hospital for 20 years back in the 90 s the specialist told me i have had all the treatment i can have ,it will get worse with age all he advised me to do was very mild physio
i did have spinal injections, physio, every medication under the sun

Do you have a specialist that you see at the hospital as sometimes evidence from them can strengthen your case as well as from your GP?

Appeal again, the one advantage of doing this over re-submitting your claim is that if you win a firther appeal the benefit will be back-dated. Failing that you could submit another new application

If I were you I would gather more supporting evidence, a letter from your GP, the specialist at the hospital, the friend who supports you, any charities who support people with your condition - anyone and everyone you have dealings with who can prove you're quality of life is more difficult

I turn off my TV when I have visitors, how can they appraise you properly if there are distractions?

You have been given good advice in this thread, most importantly to collect evidence in support of your claim from proffesionals and dont put irrelivant information in as it will confuse the issue.

Evidence within the past 6 months is best.

I would have turned off my tv , if i could have got to it, thats no excuse for a professional doctor, thats like saying if someones run over in the road the ambulance people cant help u cos the traffics too noisey and distracting them!!
Sorry it dont wash, as for all the advice telling me to go to cab this is the second time today they have told me,they cant help
everyone tells me get a social worker, but no ones said how??
I have been house bound for nearly 7 months and i still cant get help, my friend will lose their job helping me
i have a nearly 100 page dossier basically damning any chances of me getting any dla from a doctor that spent no more than 30 mins with me , bassically put his arms out after 3 steps to stop me falling , then rights on my report i can walk 300 meteres no problem,
so to sum it all up
im just sitting here waiting for the date of my dla tribunal, with this copy of a report in front of me,saying im bassically fitter than linford christie
and all people can do is tell me go here go there, when the most i can move is 3 - 4 steps and thats in a town i have just been moved to where i know the whereabouts of nothing and dont have anyone to take me !!!
You will all have to excuse me for getting angry, but trust me anger is the only thing stopping me taking all my medication in one go!!

Craigmandy I think often the system is designed to "make the genuine jump through hoops" to weed out the fraudsters without any work. It took me two years to get DLA mobility (I have cerebral palsy) and three for a depression diagnoses. I haven't bothered to update my claim on this front as I have A VERY supportive husband who has a VERY supportive employer.

As for "how to get a social worker", how did you get your depression diagnoses? And what medication are you taking?

Im thinking of this as it is the easiest way to secure the services of a social worker. Since I got my diagnoses two months ago, Ive had someone visit me once a week. Sometimes we just chat, sometimes she helps me keep my to do lists in check-she does really whatever I need to ensure I can run my week effectively.

To access one you should contact your gp again and ask to be referred to your local mental health centre (if you havent been already). Once you have access to this you will be able to access the local crisis team-which will include a regular social visit.

In the meantime, I would write to your local MP (I did, and it was a recommendation from my MP which finally secured my DLA)

You can be referred to SS by any health professional (GP, OT etc) or you can self-refer by ringing them. In your case it sounds as if you should ring your GP and ask them (my experience is that they take GP referrals more seriously). If you can't get to your GP's surgery then ask for a home visit. And if your are struggling with suicidal thoughts please tell them, it tends to make both GPs and SS react more speedily.

Its your telly and you should have turned it off, either pre or post his arrrival and thats your fault, not his because you provided the distraction and you were free to turn it off at anytime.

This 100 page dossier, what is in it?

Evidence to back up your claim or more whining rubbish like the above post blaming everyone but yourself and rubbishing the advice that youve been given here to help you.

Have you got a health visitor at your GP surgery. In my area they deal from "cradle to grave" now so they would be able to help you and refer you to other relevent people such as social services. They can also help with DLA. Good luck.
