Well what can I say except- I'm sorry I dont know what come over me, it must have been a moment of madness........etc etc etc

Decided to go and have a look around Aldi as not been in one for ages, our nearest one started off great and then standards just dropped, nothing every in I wanted, que's all down the aisles etc.

So the bottom line is I came out £17.62 poorer and some groceries that I didnt really need-
Rolls - Why? I make my own
Ice cream - struggled to get it into freezer
radish - errr eat them like sweets
tomatoes - well always buying these
crisps - try not to buy them cause eat far to many
herb plants - must remember to pot them into bigger container in minute.
lettuce - could have lasted until Wed at least
    Feta cheese - as above:cool:
Strawberries - as above but will have with the ice cream :rotfl:
Fresh flowers - well I thought they looked nice so....:p

Oh well, must try harder for remainder of month.
    Will update signature tonight.

  • Lovelife - you sound like me! I spend way to much on groceries and also have hollow legged teenagers with equally hollow legged friends who appear to only ever eat when they are in my house! This month I am just about keeping on track but it is a big change - last night DD1 said to her friends "Mum has turned psycho and is hardly buying any good stuff to eat - I had to cook a piece of fish out the freezer before as a snack"

Hoping for a nsd here today. I had to go to a meeting (I work from home) in Liverpool for work and it didn't finish until about half past one and I was starving. On the way home I passed the drive through McDonalds and was soooo tempted to go and get a meal but I resisted and then had the same temptation when I drove past the sandwich shop in our village. Anyway got home and made myself two lovely tuna salad rolls and some chopped up fresh fruit which was much nicer, healthier and cheaper than anything I could have bought. Dinner tonight will be pork loin steaks in hm barbecue marinade, new potatoes and salad, followed by hm rhubarb crumble (not sure the kids will eat that though - might have to make a batch of fairy cakes for them).

Poppy - I am a shopaholic too! My idea of heaven is walking round the supermarket lobbing stuff into my trolley with abandon!

Spent the morning at the allotment sowing more seeds and didnt get off the bus in town on the way home:D but did pop into the local shop to buy a bar of chocolate:o but it was to make chocolate cornflake cakes for my grandson:) so I will forgive myself that. Dinner tonight will be pasta in cheese & bacon sauce with salad and the second loaf of bread I made yesterday.

Finally achieved a completely NSD at last. Did lots of baking to fill up the cupboards a bit, a couple of Bacon, Cheese & Herb Quiches, 12 lemon and lime drizzle cupcakes, a large loaf of fennel bread and a blackberry pie. Wonder how much that lot would have cost to buy. For dinner, had one of the quiches, baked potato and some young broad beans (the first from the garden) they're still small enough to boil for a few minutes pods and all and they taste yummy like this. DH loves cake so was pleased to see the tin nice and full (wonder how he keeps so trim!!). Hope to sow some pak choi tomorrow in the garden, have been promising myself to do this since saturday and it's still waiting.

I so nearly achieved a NSD, but needed milk, and while I was at the shop I realised that I also needed a bar of chocolate!
Definately won't have one tomorrow as I'm going to a coffee morning at my SIL's where she's selling cards in aid of Marie Curie, so I'll go and support her with that.
I found my lost carrot seeds though so can get some veg planted!
