Just found this on the sky web site...
Sky+ box: You will receive a Sky+HD box which has all the features of Sky+. To view free to air HD content you need a HD ready TV. To view Sky HD content you will also need the HD pack [for £10 a month]. and this..
Enjoy the magic of Sky+ with our revamped black box with a sleek new look, even more storage and the latest Sky Guide. Pause and rewind up to 185 hours of standard definition TV at the touch of a button, so you never miss a moment, and enjoy your favourite TV at a time that suits you. With Sky+ you can also simultaneously record two shows, or watch one while recording another.
What's more, your Sky+ box is ready to upgrade to the HD Pack whenever you are. Existing Sky customers can add a Sky+ box from £49 (£60 standard set-up).
Anyhow, my other halfs home, I told him about the discussion with the rep and he said 'thats utter tosh, he just wants commision for selling an HD package, not whats suitable for your mum'.
So when the rep calls back on my mobile, (so he can talk to my mum in hospital, to get her permission to go ahead) my OH will be answering:eek:0 -
Oh dear...need some more advice Help!
The rep told me he needed my mums permission as the contract would be in her name, hence his need to talk to her in person on my mobile in hospital. For convinience he suggested getting all the details input before then (I gave him my bank details for DD etc), so he could just go ahead when he had spoken to my mum and got her permission as the contract holder....however..
The rep called back and spoke to my husband (instead of my mum) and said that I had already signed up:eek:, and he only needed to speek to my mum so he could arrange instalation!!!!!
He did back track on the 'only £50 for the referer' that he had told me, but said if my mum chose the £50 option instead of going HD, she would have to pay for the sky+ box (£49)
He also said that the line connection fee (£39) was free if we had broadband, but only if we had HD, but looking on the website you can have the same free BB without HD, but it doesnt state anywhere if you have to pay the connection charge or not
Its a mess, What shall I do?
The email I was sent as part of the £50 deal clearly said that the sky+ box is free.
Hes aparently phoning again tomorrow to confirm which package (sky+ or sky+HD) ...but how can he do that if he claims he's already set it up?!?
Its as clear as mud....with a spoonful of BS in it!
Can anyone help.....please?:(0 -
Sorry to bump again, but ive just called sky again, they said that the account has been set up, (without my mums permission!) and they could not discuss it with me as i was not the account holder!!....they managed to create the account by talking to me and without speaking to her though!
Anyone help?0 -
I'd be back on the phone to them and pretend to be your mum. I'd say that I never gave them permission to subscribe me to sky as I wanted/needed to clarify a few things after my daughter had finished sorting everything out.
Id also ask to speak to a manager and explain all your problems about them lying to you and say 'look ok forget it, cancel everything that i've never signed up for, i'll sign up online where I can get the prices that you advertise rather than ones that are totally different to your advertised deals. They'll either back down or cancel everything and then you can sign up online without talking to an idiot liar out to make a quick buck0 -

Well said! :T
If only i could order online, however as my mum does not have a phone number (shes not moved in yet) the system will not let me proceed online without putting in a valid land line number, and advises calling the sales team to place the order.
They did admit that they are on a big HD drive and are 'encouraging' new people to go for HD instead of plain old sky+. (But they should not do it by telling lies!)
Ive looked at the 'introduce a friend' terms and conditions, and i cannot find anywhere that states that the new customer will not get a free box if they recieve the £50, or that they dont get the voucher if they get the free sky+ box. It just says 'you can both get £50 if you introduce someone to sky'
Ive got enough to worry about, my mums in hospital, shes moving house, Ive got to pack for her and arrange the removals, utilities, inform everyone of her change of address, sort her pension and housing benefit out, find a local GP.......jeez, do I really have to have this bl@@dy hassle from sky on top!0 -

Thats interesting, they didnt tell me that!
So really the cooling off period has not even started yet, as its not even been installed?!..and even if it was we would still be able to canel within 30 days?0 -
lindos90, so sorry that you are having problems with sky, as you say it's a mess! I would phone them up and tell them quite firmly that you did not confirm any order over the phone and you do not want that offer - tell them about the 30 day cool off period and don't take no for an answer. If you have problems ask to speak to someone in charge - give them the impression that you know your rights even if you are unsure.;)
I don't know if this is any good to you but there is a page on their website with offers of sky+ bundles and skyHD bundles:
http://www.sky.com/shop/new?returnToAuthFilter=true
most popular Sky+ and Sky+HD bundles
- they have so many different pages on their website and it is very hard to find what you are looking for, quite honestly I think their website is a maze and very badly constructed.0 -

Thank you for your reply, i tried the link but it was just a sign in page. I have seen, and could lift pages from the web site that supports my case (ie free sky+ box, free £50 voucher etc, but as you say, the site is very disjointed, and things are hidden away depending on what links sre on the page etc. Having said that I cn not find anything in writing that says a friend joining does not get the £50 if they have sky+.
Im sure their motivation for my mum to have the HD is about commision/targets etc, and when you have to order on the phone, theres no way of proving things, you just have to take what they say.
Very fustrating!
Does anyone know if any details of the 'introduce a friend' terms, and if they are telling me porkies about the sky+ option bein g m ore expensive?0
