What a nightmare. It sounds like your mum asked her friend to go because she didn't want to go through with it.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

You need to ascertain where this cat fight took place was it in your mum's garden, or the pedigree cat's garden,
The pedigree cat's owner really should have insurance, and to lean on your mum is a disgrace.
Let them take her to court, they won't win, the judge will ask about insurance, if they have it why demand it off a pensioner, if they haven't then their hard luck.0 -
Not a fan of Cats myself but I am disgusted with this thread.
So, a happy healthy cat has been put to sleep on what grounds?
Cat attacks other Cats?
Snowy should have been taken to a rescue centre - I doubt a Cat lover would do this to an animal.
MURDER in my opinion.:cool:0 -
I know someone who was at her wit's end because her dog attacked other dogs and livestock and the neighbours made her life a misery over it. She was thinking of having him put down (she didn't want to re-home him as she is in rural Spain and the people here are not noted for their kindness to animals, she rescued him from a cruel home in the first place). So I can understand how someone can just find the whole affair so stressful that they see euthanasia of the poor animal as the only way out.
Luckily this beautiful dog is having a new start, some friends of mine in the UK who are loving and experienced dog ownrs are taking him. He is being pet-passported at this very moment and will go to live with them in six months time. His stressed-out owner will keep him for that time. She loves him but knows that this is the righ t decision for all of them.
Poor Snowy, what a shame her owner felt they could not cope. And what a shame she did not confide in anyone, th cat could have been re-homed.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -
ive now found out the reason, after talking to my sister and telling her the facts she asked my mother straight out if there was there was more to it than she was saying and she broke down and she admitted there was, apparently there is a pedigree cat living a few doors away from my mum and snowy attacked it severing a main artery, the cat is now in a very bad way, the owners are leaning on my mum for the money to cover the vets bill, my mum has said she will pay for the cat but she has no money other than her pension as she had to give up work after suffering from anal cancer so how she's going to do that l dont know, apparently she didnt want to worry us and thats why she made up the story about Snowy having heart trouble
Did Snowy only ever attack this pedegree cat the once or did it keep happening? Was it forever attacking other cats? If it was how do you know Snowy was the one that started it all the time?
Cats fight and I daresay it was just a one in a million chance this other particular cat came off very badly!
As others have said if it is a pedegree it should have been insured, if it was outside it could have just as easily been stolen and who would they have hounded then?
Just ignore them, don't let your mum be bullied by them.0 -
Something about this thread doesn't sound right to me.0

This is disgusting, your mam should be ashamed of herself, there was no reason at all for snowy to be pts, even if snowy did attack the other cat and your mam had to pay for vet treatment (which it doesnt sound as though she wouold have had to) what does getting snowy pts accomplish?Debt £30,823.48/£44,856.56 ~ 06/02/21 - 31.28% Paid OffMortgage (01/04/09 - 01/07/39)
