When I was traveling across Australia I would try and put in 2 cents more petrol than the whole dollar number.

The smallest coins they have out there is 5c so you get 2c wort of petrol for free. Bargain!

Be careful you don't go to 3c though or they round it up to 5 ;)

With price petrol n how much u get whilst squeezing the trigger finding harder to stop and guide it to a round amount. Always jumps to 1p or 2p - so annoying pumps too sensitive - ne how i got round paying the 1p today by givin the cashier £1 - she couldn't be bothered giving me 99p change n give me the quid back - result - gonna do this all the time now
I saw an interesting idea a while ago in a petrol staion.
There was a dish of pennies on the counter and the idea was that if you go over by a penny then you just take one from the dish and give it the assistant.
If someone gets a penny change then they throw it in the dish so it all balances out.

There was a name for it but can't remember what is was.

Take a penny, Leave a Penny. They're quite common in America but I've never seen them over here

Yeah, fairly common in all but the Supermarket petrol stations here in Yorkshire.

Interesting seeing those last few posts...I saw the penny pot thing in a petrol station near Warwick earlier this year, first time I'd ever come across one

I have something called "Dignity" that prevents me from doing something like this over such a small amount. :p:D
