I saw an interesting idea a while ago in a petrol staion.
There was a dish of pennies on the counter and the idea was that if you go over by a penny then you just take one from the dish and give it the assistant.
If someone gets a penny change then they throw it in the dish so it all balances out.

There was a name for it but can't remember what is was.

Take a penny, Leave a Penny. They're quite common in America but I've never seen them over here

Yeah, fairly common in all but the Supermarket petrol stations here in Yorkshire.

Interesting seeing those last few posts...I saw the penny pot thing in a petrol station near Warwick earlier this year, first time I'd ever come across one

I have something called "Dignity" that prevents me from doing something like this over such a small amount. :D
