Hi my two are 10 months and 3years. I spend about £100 on christmas each and roughly £50-£100 for birthdays. it depends on what they're having. I don't tend to buy any presents outside of those times but i do get a lot for my money by buying in the sales!!
    so my kids get:
    £100 from parents
    £20 from grandparents
    £20 from great grandparents
So £140, they don't really have much from different people compared to some. Yes i do spoil them and while i can i will but this year i will be toning down as my daughter is starting to realise money and amount etc. I've been saving £5 a week and saving £2 a week on a card for morrisons for food. so i should be all sorted soon.
I also don't by clothes as presents, i don't like it as i see it is something that they should have as a basic 'right' but when they grow up and they want 'specialist' clothing they will be given the choice of presents or clothes.
    Hope that helps :D

We have just spent out for our GS birthday yesterday, we bought him a new camera costing £33 a camera case £5 and a 2nd kyak for £35, we also usually take him out for the day instead of a birthday party, but this year he was at him mums (NRP) and from her he had an MP4 player and she bought him a birthday cake, he was not taken out for the day, although this was promised.

I dont think its so much as how much do you spend its how much do things cost that children want.

We dont have a set budget we try to get what is asked for as long as it not taking the michael.
