DD is going to be 2 in a couple of weeks so we only have a couple to go on. The first year including party (well 2 parties, family and then a baby/mummy friends tea party) and presents we spent around £100, this year will be slightly more as it is her last birthday of being an only child and I want to spoil her a little bit. So far she has a metal wheelbarrow, wooden garden rake/ shovel/ broom set, metal trowel set and a bosch tool set. I also want to get her some books and then a bit of food for her party so will be around the £100-£120 mark I would imagine.
Baby is due 1 week after her birthday so from now on both at christmas and birthday time whatever money we have will be split 50-50.
I always spend money on toy's that are well made, good quality and will last so next bubba will get use of them too. I also buy lot's of books too as DD is a bookworm, and books IMO are an investment, though I use 'the book people' so MSE too.0 -
mine are 12 and 14 next month.
Mt 12 year old wanted a ps3 for his last birthday so he traded in his wii and some old games and i paid the difference which came to just under £150.
My soon to be 14 year old want a DSI XL for his birthday which i got in argos on offer for £149 plus a free game and a £10 voucher0 -

My kids are under 3 years old and I spend as little as possible on their birthdays - a card and a token gift. (They get gifts from various other family members too.) This is because of several reasons. I buy whatever they need throughout the year and (within reason) quite a few things they want too. They are still too young to tell time (we are still in the happy position of being able to shift celebrations to more convenient dates as they don't know when they should actually be held). They are still more interested in the envelopes and wrapping paper than the actual contents.
I expect this will all start to change very soon. By the time they are teens, I have no doubt my birthday budget will be in the hundreds.0 -
My son was 14 a fortnight ago ~ he was given £100 cash and I bought him some DVDs to open.
Daughter was 12 on New Years Day ~ she got £100 cash and a little something to open.
Baby was 1 a fortnight ago (day after eldests bday) ~ think we spent around £50 on him (2 books, bath toys, fisher price garage and a football kit)
I don't mind giving the older 2 cash, because they buy clothes with it ~ they normally get cash from everyone else too so can kit themselves out with the things that I won't give them money for! (£55 jeans and £65 jacket in my son's case!)Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

6 and 3 and we spend around £20-£30 each on a present. Because their birthdays are both in winter, we usually buy a summer toy for the garden around this time of year too. I think we'll be getting a sandpit this year.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Mine are 6, 10 and 14. We spend about £200 on their birthdays. Last birthday DS who was 14 got a mobile phone, a couple of dvds, ps3 game and £20. My DD who was 10 in April got an ipod nano, top, 2 dvds, couple of cds. We used to spend about £100 on birthdays but as DS got older his stuff was dearer so the budget went up. Theyre as good as gold, and apart from birthdays, christmas and pocket money each month, they get little else apart from their clothes & shoes. When we only had DS he used to get treats all the time.0

mine are 5 and nearly 4. I've spent a total of £15 on DS bday present and I keep thinking I should get him something else but I probably won't, he has something to open and comes from a large family so will get plenty from others too. He isn't having a party but we are going for a day out to celebrate which won't cost much thank you tescos.
DD had some things for her bedroom for her birthday, new duvet cover, rug and matching curtains and a lightning macqueen car because she got upset at christmas because all the cars were DS total £50. She had a party at home which cost £50 including food, party bags decorations etc
We tend to spend quite a bit more on christmas probably closer to £100 each plus cheap stockings less than £20. Last year they had bikes, this year I'm hoping to get them kiddies digital cameras I know DD will love this.
I try not to buy them anything throughout the year either, personally I think they have far too many toys as it is.0
