Hello everyone, i like reading these kind of forums they make me feel normal lol. I have a daughter who turned 1 on dec last year i spend £60 pound on her that was for her first ever toy box wooden well worth the money, she also got a fisher price tea pot set that sings some sweets and a care bear from her big brother. This year i have been buying in the sales and already got her a baby annabell pram and baby annabell doll, a upsy daisy bed and doll from her brother, that came to £70 pounds. I did buy at the cheapest prices in jan.
My son is older and into xbox 360, wii, ds games. I usualy get a small list of games and dvds from him and buy them pre owned from gamestation i never buy them new as they cost too much. I spend around £ 50 - £80 on him. His birthday is in july and he gets nothing from his b/day to xmas. We dont have partys just birthday tea with family round have cake etc. I dont buy presents for him when its his sis b/day nor the other way around. They get nothing treats wise during the year so spoil them on b/days and xmas.0 -

My 3 children have around £30-£40 each spent on them. On top of that there's the party (for the 2 youngest, eldest is 19), birthday takeaway (I don't know where this tradition came from but it seems to have just cropped up in our house ) and the cupcakes for their classmates. My DD is 8 in 5 days and my DS2 is 9 in 25 days. So they'll be my "twins" for 20 days
When my DS1 was younger he only had about £10-£15 spent on him, a small party and some shop bought sweets for school as I was a single mum on benefit.
We don't buy them much throughout the year in the way of toys so birthdays and Christmas they get what they want. This year my DD is getting Twilight dolls!!Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £151.04 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

not sure on the exact figure but i think its over a £100 each for both xmas and birthdays... i also buy stuff for them all year not toys as such, but clothes and shoes..
i want to hear where you get your bargains from ! ?
as i spend £10-£15 on a trip too macdonalds!
i think this year for my oldest ill give him money to buy his own things which will prob save me money? but then again i still think he needs some things to open:o0 -
Buying sweets/chocolate/cupcakes for schoolmates is a new one on me - my kids have come home with one of these when it's a classmate's birthday but I just thought they were leftovers from their birthday party
It's not something I'm gonna start though:o:o:D
You should never call somebody else a nerd or geek because everybody (even YOU !!!) is an"anorak" about something whether it's trains, computers, football, shoes or celebs:rotfl:

Ouch. I dread to think. I don't really add up the amount, but I tend to buy things that may appear similar value and a similar amount, but I have no idea of price as the persons enjoyment of the present is more important than the value of it.
I don't limit as I think I have it all and then I see something else and see one of their faces and cave in and buy it.0 -

In my family its usually like this
£100 ish from parents
£30 ish from grandparents
£25 ish from aunties/uncles
£10 from great grandparents/friends
all useful, including games, books, bath stuff, learning toys/cd roms, clothes and normal toys........ we co-ordinate gifts to cover everything
People need to realise that spending copious amounts does not mean you love your child any more or are a better parent.
As he ages I like the idea of still one smallish main gift and let him save for other things he wants.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

It's our DDs next month and this year we have spent slightly more - £110 ish each. Normally we spend about £50 - they will be 11 and 14 in the same week. This year, we are in the fortunate position to be paying the mortgage off this month, and so we have a bit of spare cash/0

I don't have children - but I buy for four kids every year, im fav auntie
I tend to spend around £30 inc card on each child, I found this year, if you look in the grabbit section you get some fantastic amazon deals, and whilst there under 5 they love them and think there the bees knees, so you can reallly get a lot for your money if you are careful and it looks a lot more. You just have to have that "want" about you to track down the bargains, does help if you like to shopand have a little disposable income throughout the year so you can buy as and when.
I brought a Iteddy for £12 at xmas this year - worth £50 that was a birthday gift sorted
I tend to spend £10 on each of my sisters inc card - again, check out the salesBody shop glitches are fantastic also debenhams sale section is fantastic too - you can get things like a necklace with a £15 tag for £3 with sale codes etc!
Parents get around £20 each inc card - plus £20 at mothers/fathers day.
Doesn't sound a lot but its been a lot for the last year and a half for me
Xmas.. I like a challangeI get everything for under £100 and they all get a nice pile full, something to play with, something to wear, something to eat and something to learn
and brother in laws tend to get under £5 3 for 2 etc, sisters again something like a bodyshop glitch £8 or so each, my parents again a glitch or two and same for the children. This year I looked so generous
I spent less than a hundred on everything lol.
I have a little more money now so this xmas I shall probably spoil them a litte bit moreLearning to be 'good with money'0
