sounds like some companies are taking the cartel route and are happy to amass clients monies without doing anything of any value, i hope you get a refund but i would be suspicious

Andy they are not worth bothering with. Even if you pay no upfront fees or No win No fee, and you go through Solicitors even if you lose and they think that it is because your evidence may have been to blame then the After the Event Insurance will not cover you. You will be liable for your Soicitor/Barrister costs and the costs of the Defence.

Also if you do win you will with some of these companies have to pay 25% of your "winnings" plus VAT so that works out at 42 1/2% of your total costs nearly 50%.

Just as a warning to anybody thinking this is the easiest option. It can also take years to come to a conclusion.

Or you can do what many claims companies do. Take the money, send the same template in which take about 30 seconds to do and a second class stamp and then forget about it unless it happens to win.

Information about your financial products is not in the public domain. If they have detail about you then they have it fraudulently.

So how do they make the claims on her behalf ? does my friend have to provide all the info e.g. loan company names/amounts/dates etc ?

My friend was under the impression that all she had to do was to pay the £300 & they would do everything, cos she doesn't have that info anymore...once she paid the c/c or loan, she destroyed the paperwork, so there are no records.

How do they know that she's a 'prime candidate' for PPI reclaiming if they don't have that info already ?

Initially on the phone they will:
1 - pretend they know something about you and get you to disclose it without realising it
2 - play pot luck knowing that they will get it right or close enough with some and steer the conversation accordingly.
    3 - tell outright lies
4 - they will have data on file they are not entitled to but have picked up

    yes.

    pot luck.

i get phone calls from claims companies telling me I can reclaim this that and the other. Some of them I play along and then report them to the MoJ for fraudulent activity.
