Fermi - isnt that a little too green. Think we're going to knock up a quick version with a cream background and post it here.

There's obviously something wrong with my eyes 'cos I see Fermi's version as shades of blue

    Savvy_Sue, try a nice 30" monitor at 2560x1600 resolution. :)
:rotfl: You gonna pay for it?

Seriously, I'll try it on the 27" monitor tonight, when DH is away. And I'll try the tweaked version, and the old version, and see which one 'works' best for me. No idea what the resolution is.

Given the talk here about readability it's a bit sad that I have no trouble at all with most text reading on a 15" laptop display at 1600x1200 resolution, so it's not size that's the issue in what this topic is discussing.
That's the thing, I have no problem with other sites, and this is fine atm (on the 27" now), so maybe my eyes just stop working late at night and I should take that as A Sign and go to bed when I can't see straight any more. :rotfl:

It's sort of greenish/blueish icky somewhere in between colours for me. :o

So how they look probably depends more on how your display is set up than anything else.

    Hi folks,

We're going to knock up a grey background version (cream had too many clashes) - it'll be done at speed, we'll pop it up and then can play with it a little.

Just to say though we're not going to spend too much time on it but we do want it to work for those who are struggling.

    Martin :)

Tried out the grey version - like it.
Have to admit that I didn't notice it at first - I was looking at the laptop screen from slightly above, and I therefore got a white effect - but it's my normal position, so doesn't explain why the new (bright) version hurts my eyes and the old (equally bright?) version doesn't.

There is still a lot of white down the right-hand side (after the News/Deals/Blogs/Tools stuff) that you get for two-thirds or so of a filled 20-post thread page. Can anything be done about that?

The grey is just fine, liked it, just that when I post images I use dots to bring it to the centre of the page, likewise I use dots to use it as filler for short words or phrases over posts; on grey the dots would show whereas on offwhite or cream it stays invisible. So I'm returning to the default setting. I know I'm difficult to please :D when it comes to perfection but really two options is simply generous, pure luxury, thanks.

But won't us 'greys' then see a series of white dots on our lovely grey screens? ;):D

    ..............................................

    ^^^ White dots above.

Unless I peer at the screen from just a few inches away and narrow my eyes, I wouldn't know they are there.

you would indeed but your grey screens with a light green border and dark green header are multicolor anyway :p:D

btw has the subtle littel seal saying consumer revenge vanished - I always thought it made a good filler for the empty side

Update - if you go to the User CP and Edit Options you'll see there's now a "new version (less bright)" option which we hope will help

Hmmm, I can see them and the white line above quite clearly from two feet away. Curious. ;):D
