Sounds as though you could just be making some headway there JJ - keep up the good work.
And now that it's getting chilly (at least it is in Yorkshire), I'm glad you've got your own roof over your head and hot running water!Miggy

Glad to hear some positive feedback regarding the invoices, I will contact a few more on Monday. I will be phoning the police again tomorrow to see what they have to say about it. They probably won't be interested but it's worth a try. I just want them to check out his labour costs as I think that will show a huge fraud has taken place. In fact I know it will.
Apparently TS aren't interested in business to business complaints so it's not worth me contacting that company that are unhappy with the builder.
I may have hot water Miggy but still no heating, the plumber is a nice person but is just too laid back. Not cold here yet but it will be soon.0 -

I know a few trades who worked on my place if you need suggestions.0 -
Phoned another supplier this week and found some more fake invoice numbers, but I won't bother searching for any more because the police said that because we didn't pay the extra money he was asking for it wasn't fraud. Looks like I will have to give up with the police. The more I look into things the more discrepancies I find, but no one is interested. Apparently they are no longer crimes.
I haven't done a lot in the house this week, all the skirting board is now down so I can at least get a carpet in the lounge. Been a little fed up with the Police and TS so progress has been slow. My main task for next week is to put up some of the curtain rails and get a few curtains, it's starting to get a little cold in the mornings with no heating.0 -

It must feel like banging your head against a brick wall, so very frustrating.:( It's a pity that the paper didn't name and shame but I'm hoping that CT might. As with Mike, maybe then more victims will come forward and with enough evidence, TS are able to prosecute. Just a thought, not sure what legal advice if any you have but Aylana #2951 page 148 made a good suggestion on Mike's old thread that might be worth you checking out. If you can be sure you're not breaking any slander rules, it might bring more people forward....IF it's doable!

You may not feel as though you're getting anywhere, especially when you're looking at how far you've still got to go. Take a look back at where you were even 3 months ago, even 11 months ago. Remind yourself that YES, you've actually come a very long way. I'm seriously impressed and amazed at all you've got through during the summer. No easy task, especially when you have 3 little ones at home and a job to contend with. :T
It's un uphill climb mate and I know this is far from easy but every ounce of effort you're putting in will eventually get you to what you need. Take care of you and stay strong. See a doctor if things get too much, you'll know if and when you need to.
Still here and still all cheering you on.

We can't name him for legal reasons, if TS or the police take the case on then the paper may run another story on him and name him. I'm still not giving up on it but I do feel like I want to. I'm pretty sure of my legal position as all the paperwork has been looked at by numerous legal and other professional people. I don't want to name him yet, I would rather see what other action is available when all the evidence is found. I would prefer him to be named in court.0 -
I understand your caution in naming him and would never want to see you blow your chances in court or be charged with slander. Just so damn frustrated for you because when you realise that getting his name out there may lead to more discoveries which would then possibly lead to TS finally listening and dodgy builder bloke might finally be prosecuted.
It's bonkers that 1 complaint of a vast sum of money being taken isn't enough to make anyone take action or excuse their reasons for taking no action unless they sit back and wait for tons more people to get ripped off. The authorities are not very pro active and closing the stable gate after the horse has bolted is just too little too late!
Re fake invoices, I assume they show amounts for VAT and any amounts on the invoices would also be liable for tax. None of it useful to you in getting your money back but worth considering about if you ever do run out of options, VATMAN and TAXMAN may at least be a last resort in making the !!!!!! accountable for something.
Sorry I still have no useful answers but if there ever is an opportunity to help, count me in.
Wishing you & your family the VERY best of luck.PROUD MEMBER OF
