Got ourselves on the front page of the Herald today, I hope that this will shame the police into taking another look at the case. The police woman that came and saw us a few weeks ago said "Well it was you that gave him the money", basically saying that we were stupid to give him the money in the first place. Think I already know that but it doesn't mean that he can take it without finishing the work. Anyway it's a good write up even though they didn't go into too much detail.
Wow! Well done! He'll know you're not lying down. The online version is a week behind the printed copies. I'll grab one tomorrow.
Definitely a new direction for police advisors. Of COURSE it's everyone's fault that they're the victims of crime. You can't go round paying tradesmen to do work! And all these thousands of pensioners who get caught by opportunist distraction thieves - you've got to laugh haven't you! Fancy keeping money in their bedrooms!
And if people go out after 7pm then they're asking to get attacked by drunks and thugs.
What a silly !!!!!...0 -

Last night I wrote to my local MP to complain about the lack of interest the police are showing, also contacted Trading Standards again and complained to the police. They haven't even requested to look at my evidence!!
I have also found a customer of his that paid well above the stated quote for a finished extension with no changes to the plan. They think they were overcharged by up to £20,000. Think he has made a habit of quoting low and adding extras to the price.0 -

JJ, all you can do is to keep knocking on doors, stating your case. Eventually one of them will be the right one that can offer you some help.I have also found a customer of his that paid well above the stated quote for a finished extension with no changes to the plan. Amazing, so if he does this just three times a year he turns over an extra £60k. OK, some of the extra work might be genuine with some costs associated with it but still....:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -

I'd love them to go to Trading Standards as well, it would help my case but I want them to want to do it themselves. I also know the location of another customer but don't know if I should contact them and how I should approach it.
BTW someone more senior from the police is contacting me tomorrow to go over the case in more detail. Hopefully they will now take it more seriously and investigate his accounts.0 -

It may be worth putting a note through the door explaining that you understand they have used the same builder, you have had issues with him and wonder if he has too. If so would they like to compare notes and actions. Add your phone number and let them give you a call if they want too. Not too pushy!
Interesting news from the police :j Might be worth asking them if you should report him to the Inland Revenue or if that would come under their investigation.
Keep in going JJ, you must be able to get somewhere!:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Hi JJ keep up the good work
hope it starts to work out soon, il keep checking in

Got a letter from Trading Standards saying that they don't think he has committed a criminal act based on what I have told them. Also they will only act if another person complains. So stealing money, leaving a ruined house and making a family homeless is no longer a criminal offence!! What a joke. At least they have given me a direct number to discuss the matter if I want to. They haven't even seen my evidence. Needless to say I will be straight onto them tomorrow demanding a face to face meeting. Regarding the police, they will now contact me tomorrow. There must be an agency out there that will take this case seriously.
The house hasn't really moved on in the last couple of weeks, except for having the boiler fitted and we now have hot water. Still no radiators hence no heating. I have another rug for the floor so I am gradually covering the floor boards.0
