Had the TV company do their final filming last week, it really pushed the builder on and we had decent progress that had been lacking for the last few weeks. Think the builder has generally lost interest though and is just going through the motions. Time to get someone else in to finish off the rest. We have a new water mains in and the ground floor electrics are almost finished. We also have a flushing toilet and one running tap!! Now that's real progress.

Well done JJ, all progress is good :T

Can't remember what TV Program you are involved with but I am sure you will remind us.

How far are you from being able to move in?

Keep on keeping on, you will get there

I'm sitting in my house now :)

Kids are very excited, we moved in at lunchtime. Spent the last two days making the place as safe as we can and have blocked off dangerous areas. We are going to live in the lounge, kitchen and bedroom which is much better than the one room that we have become used to. No carpet, skirting board or doors but It's our home and we can gradually improve things. Also no fridge, TV, bath or shower so will have to wash using a sink, hope to have a bath put in within a week. The garden is a mess and unsafe for the kids so they probably won't be able to use it until next year. Oh and upstairs is completely unfinished with no walls, ceiling or floor in places, will definitely have no money for that. Anyway at least we are back in our house after 11 months.
  • Well done JJ! It must be a relief to at least be in your own home, and it won't be long before there won't be any dangerous areas left! x

Yes very pleased. Managed to borrow a dining table and have found some old garden chairs in the shed that we can use for a while. All our furniture got ruined by the last builder. Anyone know how I can get some cheap or free carpet? Doesn't have to be perfect but would like to cover the floorboards in a couple of the rooms.

Have you been looking on freecycle? I can't remember where you are, but on my local one today I saw a load of carpet tiles being given away.

First night was good, hard to get used to. The kids were so excited, running around until gone 8 and up again at 4am.
