Don't think I can pursue the builder any longer, just have to accept that he has conned me good and proper and has managed to get away with it. Have tried several solicitors and none of them will touch it now that he has requested to strike his company off. Well that's £100,000 down the pan, only had it in the first place because I sold my house and bought a cheap one to renovate.

I didn't see the point in getting court papers when there is no value in his business, or have I missed something?

I haven't phoned the VAT or PAYE yet but am planning to do that next week, I will also contact the local MP shortly.

I have been so busy with my day job then going up the house to do various things, haven't been getting back until late, basically I work until it gets dark as there is no power. Finding it hard to do everything but will definitely look at contacting one of those soon.

    I think it's post 153. HTH.
The idea would be to stop him taking everything and getting off scot-free if I understand rightly?

OK I will look into it as long as it doesn't cost too much. Will I have to get a solicitor to send him a letter or can I send a letter to him and do the court paperwork myself?

    Hi Johnny

I have been a lurker for a while since you posted on Mike's thread.

I am also a member of www.fool.co.uk , they have a dealing with debt board and one of the regulars who helps is a guy called Son1c, real name Colin.

He runs his own business collecting debt and helping individuals with bankruptcy etc. He is a fountain of all knowledge - I wonder if you could contact him on there and he will give you some great pointers on what route you can take and the whole issue on Companies House and striking off etc.

Will also PM this in case it is deleted.

If you need me to help contact him I can do - just give me a shout

Think it would be a good idea for me to post a few photos of the house, anyone know a good photo hosting site that can be viewed buy invitation only?

Been up the house today painting again, only another 5 rooms to do. :( Will probably take me until the weekend to finish them as I have to work in the day. I am up there all day tomorrow so should get a few rooms finished by the evening. Still no power so can't really work much past 8:30pm. Anyway the kitchen only needs one more coat of paint and I can start putting the units together. :) Still wires coming out the wall, no sockets but hope that will be done soon. If I can get that room finished along with the bathroom and 1 other room then I think we could just about move in. :j

Woe JJ (Sure I am sounding like a broken record), I can't believe how far you have come. I know the house won't be finished but it is great that you can move in and start to make some use of it.

At least you would then have the family around while you are working and not have the journey to worry about at the end of such a long day.

Keep on going, you really are doing a fab job

I have no idea where you are but if you want anyone down to give you some help give us a shout. I would give some time in about the next 6 weeks, not after that! I'm painting a lot at the mo!

I'm in the north east so PM me if anywhere near.
