    Hi

Join www.freegle.co.uk as they have stuff that people are giving away. Also freecycle if it still operates in that area. Furniture, bedding, curtains, carpets, household stuff and possibly building materials.

Not sure if the furniture recycling network would support you because you are a householder, but ask.

By the way I had the phone connected today and if I can find a Cat 5 cable I may even get my broadband working tomorrow, then I can get rid of this slow dongle.

So pleased to read of your progress. I know exactly how you are feeling and this is a big step you can't have imagined happening.

This event will stay with you for life but it doesn't have to spoil your life. You have done brilliantly... now to finish it off and put this behind you!

    hi JJ,
sending hugs and positive thoughts - I got ripped off too but luckily didnt get the grief that you and your family have had to put up with.
If you PM me I have a local contact who may be able to help with cheap flooring and curtains in the new forest area - I make no promises but will do what I can to help. Good luck with it all and later on, invest in some black out curtains for the kids rooms - you may just get a lie in one day! lol. Am full of admiration for what you have gone through and how you are holding it all together to make the progress that you have.

It's one of those things that you just have to get through, I obviously had no choice once I made my mistake, but if I just sat here and did nothing then things would be desperate by now. Things are a long way from being finished but at least I can pause for breath now.

I did have some blackout curtains, I will have a look in my various storage places later. Must get some curtain poles first.

Things left to do, in order that I can remember -

    Fit guttering
Fit small missing soffit to side of house
Attach missing wood to front of house
    Attach washing machine
    Finish door architraves
    Hang doors
    Paint last bedroom
    Fit skirting boards
    Fit carpets
    Put up curtain poles
    Fit boiler
    Change front door
    Re-wire faulty light sockets
Fill holes in wall by some electric sockets
Build cupboard to house consumer unit
    Finish floor upstairs
    Fit insulation upstairs
Plasterboard, paint, all electrics, plumbing etc upstairs
Fill water mains hole in garden
    Put in all radiators
    Fit missing electric sockets
Fill in hole under front window
    Fit shower, bath and sink
    Clear building rubbish from garden
Cut wood for hole under stairs
    Repair back door steps

Oh more than I thought, I can't do all of these but I will start with the easier ones. Anyone know how to hang doors?

theres cowboys out there that have no conscience.a 5 week job took a year to correct.

    you have to follow procedure--law

as a consumer you have rights

if hes a sole trader and not limited company you will have a problem as the pursuer

get a lawyer --you need professional advise immediately

Wow JJ, I go away for a weekend to a family wedding and you move in. How fab is that :D

I know that things are far from perfect but this is a huge step. You, your wife and family can now get to see more of each other and have a little room to spread about after months of being on top of each other.

    Well done you!

The list you have posted seems daunting to me but after all the progress you have made so far I am sure you will get through it with some help.

Google "how to hang doors" and up comes a video top help - isn't the internet wonderful!
