That seems like a great thing to focus on..and what a sense of achievement that will be.

ok i have my starting point .... i ran half a kilometer on the treadmill before i thought my heart would burst out of my chest ...i loved it but man it was hard going .... i know that a treadmill is different from running on the road but i thought it would be good to have a starting point .... i know my finishing point ( well the immediate finishing point ) is going to be a marathon in october next year (if i get in that is) so i have both ends of the picture i just need to figure out how to get from a to b .... doing so healthily and safely

and you know what i am so excited about it

hubby has been back to his usual wonderful self ... i dont know whether this is a good thing or not ...

Not sure whether you were being sarcastic when you said that, but accept the good times when they're here and enjoy them. You get no such choice with the bad times - you *have* to accept those...

thanks z ... not being sarcastic .... honest ... he is wonderful 90% of the time he really is ... amazing guy to be around .... but those other times well they aint the worst in the world but they could be a whole lot better ...

the problem with him being wonderful again is ultimately if january came and there was no attempt at trying to get control of his drinking ... it makes it so much harder to do what i must .... its like a double edged sword ....

It is difficult. But you are doing what is right for you and ultimately right for him. Living with a bottle is no substitute for living with the man you love. Even if the man you love makes an appearence 10% of the time.

    Hi Elantan,

Just back and catching up on mse and the internet. Sorry to hear that you're going through such a rough patch. Only thing I can add is that concentrating on the exercise and the practical things people have suggested means that it helps you retain a feeling of control in your life. Unfortunately your OH is ultimately the only one who can sort out his life.

Hope the Marathon training goes well.
