Hah hah hah, to you it would have an additional owner, even tho' by your method it wouldn't, 1 more strike up to the motor trade.:T:T:T

but if I was trying to sell a car that was showing that the current keeper bought it 7 weeks ago - it makes it hard!

"oh the reason they have had the car for 7 weeks is that its a piece if rubbish and a hateful thing to drive..."

Yes, you want the money before they find that out.

We only send the V5's off after about 3-4 weeks just incase the customer doesnt like the car. That way we can sell the car on as a 1 owner car and not have to !!!! about waiting for documents to go to the customer and then back to us.

    Nothing illigal about it.

Not sure on the legal side of things but surely if I trade in or sell on a car I have to inform the DVLA asap. Same should go for dealers.

It MAY not be illegal but it sure as hell is immoral. (even allowing for the fact I only had the car 6 days and drove 200 miles in it).

Agreed, but if the DVLA do their usual (in)efficient tricks, OP may be looking at "Fines" for failing to notify change of ownership, Tax et.al.
That was a worry too but as it continues to languish in the dealers forecourt I can rest easy about that one for now:D

Awww diddums!:D Whether I owned the car for 3 years or drove to the end of the street and decided I didn't like it, as soon as I have handed over my cheque and signed on the dotted line that car belongs to me.

Yes it does, but can you imagine how money we'd spend on postage stamps to post V5's off every day? Hence why we just bundle a load in the post once a month...

Yes, but you'd only need to inform the DVLA if you actuall;y had the V5 in your name. No point telling them that you no longer have a car that you have never been registered to lol

Blimey....I spend 9K on a car and you lot hold back on a 35p stamp? Moneysavers of the year!!! Martin will be so proud! How many cars do you sell in a week?

You miss my point that if you informed the DVLA as soon as I bought the car then it WOULD have been registered in my name. LOL

The V5's get dated from the day the car is collected, but we just send off a big batch of them in one big go :)

And I bet they still manage to "lose" 1 or 2 of those and claim you never posted them?

Dunno. Cant say I've had any problems. Only time there are any delays are around March/September when new reg's are out and the DVLA have more work to do.
