Got New Car But Don't Like It!!!

I changed my car at the weekend, going from a larger family type car to a Suzuki Swift. I was originally going to go for a Megane but couldn't get a deal from the garage.

I then saw the Swift and decided to go for that despite it being smaller than the cars I have driven over the last few years.. After a few days however, I m sure I made the wrong decision. Has anyone ever been in this position? Did you go back to the dealer you purchased from? I was wondering if they may be open to me asking for another more suitable car. I realise that I will take a hit financially but I am willing to take that hit.

It will be a huge hit - what is wrong with the Swift? Honest John rates them highly, and although I've never driven one, I understand that they are considered amongst the best small hatchbacks you can buy. Is it really that bad?

In its Sport guise, the Suzuki Swift is a little tearaway, serving up more fun than its power or price would have you believe. Even the base models are pretty perky.

Just remember how much you lose when they try telling you that an ex demo is only a 10% discount !

The Swift is a decent car. Step back and take a deep breath. It won't kill you to drive it for a year. Do that and see if it grows on you. If it doesn't sell it then.

Minimum 30% hit on the swift. It's a great car and as others have stated it's a wee rocket!

Live with it for a year and see what happens.

Unfortunately a few inches makes all the difference.
I delibrately went for the 5 door version of my COLT,
and so many things have just fitted it's a wonder.
The 3 door version would have been useless, for the lack of probably four inches.

Think about a roof rack. I think a trailer doesn't really help with long objects.

Im assuming the complaint is based on practical reasons?

1.Advertise in your local paper for a realistic price. Small cars always sell.
2.Go back to the dealer you bought it from and beg.
3.You might get a decent trade in from a.n.other dealer, but beware buying an unpopular model, which will be even harder to sell on.

I did a similar thing. After 4 years with my 155bhp redtop cav I decided to go economical.
I bought an 8 mth old 1600cc megane hatch. £8K. Within a day I realised I did not want to live with this car, forget the reason, a car fits or it doesn't. Within a week I had traded back elsewhere at a loss/chop price of £7K.

I think thats the only time I have lost serious money on a motor, but do I regret it?, no, not for a second, I kept the next car 8 years.:beer:

Money is not allways the top priority
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I thought I better update the thread on what happened......

Basically, decided the Swift wasn't as good as the Megane so managed to get a deal on the Megane trading in the Swift, made a loss of about £700 but that's life! Much happier with that car.

The strange thing is the Swift ended up back at the dealership I bought it from. The thing that is now annoying me is that despite me being the owner of the car for 6 days, the V5 document never reached me. I am now wondering if they are selling that car on as if my timne with the car didn't exist. Surely that's illegal?
