on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
    10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
    20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)

You should be sorry and mean it. Americans are not OTT. Just because you see some like that doesn't mean the entire country is like it. I would never even think of saying something rude about the British population because I don't judge all of you as one as you have done to us.

And do you know all of the British population? I don't nor do I know all of the American population. You shouldn't dis people just because of the few that you have seen or how some Americans are portrayed on TV.

My husband had a bad look on Americans until he came to live there for 4 years. He admitted his observations and opinions were wrong after moving there and getting to know other Americans personally.

Christ, chill out!! I have family in America actually; so I know first hand how OTT they are... they even have baby wipes in their toilets (sorry 'bathrooms') to wipe their backsides AFTER using toilet paper so their pure white Y fronts and undies don't get soiled... oh, and don't drink the tap water, you will get cooties!!! Everything has to be bottled water, to fill up the kettle ... even for the dogs drinking water !!!!!!.

My opinon stands - don't really care how you feel about it TBH. I wasn't actually saying 'sorry' to you either.

What a heartless uncarring person you are portraying here. Every single one of your points quoted above are so untrue. I don't have wipes in my toilet nor do any American I know. I drank the tap water and so did all those around me.

I knew you weren't apologizing to me nor do I want one from a heartless person like you. Just completely unbelievable.

So just because some of the Americans and some of your family do those things, we all do. Yeah, you're a smart one.

Boy do you have a chip on your shoulder!! Can tell you're not British!!

I do have a chip on my shoulder because of how you are treating me. You come on here and badmouth the Americans after seeing a few family and friends doing something and then insist that all Americans must do the same thing. It's like starting a rumor and I don't want the British people to think that we are all like that.

I know that a lot of British people don't like Americans, I've had a hard time fitting in yet have done nothing to receive this treatment other than being judged on being an American. It's heartbreaking and upsetting. There are times I have cried and just want to go home but I have to keep going because my husband and children need me just as much as I need them. That being said, I know not all British feel that way and that keeps me going too.

I shouldn't have to defend who I am and I'm pretty sure if you were in America and your people were being bashed, you would be equally upset. But I don't see that happening in America for the most part. My husband got treated like royalty over there and I come here and get to feel unwelcome. I follow all your laws, your customs and traditions and don't fly my American flag because I feel it's disrespectful to the British people. I don't expect to be treated specially, just to feel welcome.

I wish more British would see that not all Americans are the same, it's a pretty big country. All I'm asking is that you don't judge all of us based on one area.

Britwife - I think you are taking comments far too personally. Sorry if you're upset, but Americans are portrayed in a certain way, usually through their own American programmes, Friends, ER, Scrubs etc.. I have been to America, and I'd love to go back, very nice place, nice people.
I do think Americans generally do things 'bigger' than in the UK. Hence the OTT comment.

I have babywipes in my bathroom :D Got to be clean down there... I wash my hands after the toilet. I too spent my childhood not washing my hands, wasn't ill much either..

Britwife.. my original first comment was very generalised. My mother HAS become very OTT since moving to the US and I know that is a direct influence of my american step-father and his mother. I've seen how my step-sister has been bought up; so I know 'my american' family are very much like how I quoted. I didn't say ALL americans were like it, I said my mother had become 'americanised' because she has.. its obviously the way they do things which are different to us. There was no need to have such a blatant attack on me over something you took to heart. It wasn't aimed at you, it was a light-hearted remark. You need to toughen up lady, and stop thinking everyone is out to get at you or make you feel bad. I like American's, I like America.. but they do do things differently to us.. not saying its wrong, or bad, just different!

I got married in Tennesse, beautiful place with lovely people and I can't wait to go back there... but they do do things differently to us Brits!

I'll agree to doing things differently.

Tennesse is a beautiful place and I bet you had a beautiful wedding! Where you up in the mountain range or on the other side? Still all of it pretty.

I do tend to wear my heart on my sleeve which is not always good, but it's just how I was brought up. I don't feel that everyone is out to get me, thought never crossed my mind. I'm just a bit, ok alot, protective of my home country. I love it here and the people but do miss home, my mom still lives there.

Dont get me started on that advert, I saw it last night and got the rage, my husband left the room as I was shouting at the TV because of it. Im a great believer in germs, we need germs to get immunity to stuff, I dont have any 'antibacterial' stuff in my house i use good old soap and water to wash my hands and Ive not keeled over in 37 years yet.

I'd love to live in America for a bit, just to see the difference, would be awesome.

Hope you are settling in okay here in the UK.. What are the best and worst bits of our lovely country?
