Wow, you must have had really dirty hands to start with :rotfl:

I might try that on my lot, who are terrible with handwashing. Quote
me(having not heard the taps when DD3 in bathroom): Did you wash your hands?
dd3: I don't need to, I didn't wipe my bum :eek::eek::eek::eek:
She was sent back in to do both

Don't know about you, but our tesco has just put in a super turbo hand-dryer that sounds like a jumbo jet taking off and is so powerful you can actually see it making waves in your skin
On the plus side, when someone else has just finished and starts the dryer you can let rip without feeling self conscious, there's no chance of anyone hearing you:o:o

What does living in the states have to do with wanting to be germ free? You're going to get that in any country and the product was seen on the telly here. I'm American, born and bred but have been here for 4 years. You go into any hospital or doctors office here and there are signs yelling out to you to wash hands first or sanitize. Didn't have that where I was in the states. And if you ever watch proper hand washing, your mom is doing it the correct way. Has nothing to do with becoming "Americanized". Sorry, but I find that a bit offensive....just a bit.
Because Americans are especially OTT and my mum has become OTT since living there, in every aspect of her life; not just the fantatical thing about germs. The British are no where near as bad; I'm not sure if half the time its just OTT behaviour or paranoia.
Sorry, just my opinion and personal observations.0 -
I was brought up a long time ago and there were never these products available. My mother was, and still is, very clean but we were brought up playing in mud and being outside. We were clean and washed our hands with soap but were and still are very healthy.
I agree with the OP, I think it's important to build up immunity.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

You should be sorry and mean it. Americans are not OTT. Just because you see some like that doesn't mean the entire country is like it. I would never even think of saying something rude about the British population because I don't judge all of you as one as you have done to us.
And do you know all of the British population? I don't nor do I know all of the American population. You shouldn't dis people just because of the few that you have seen or how some Americans are portrayed on TV.
My husband had a bad look on Americans until he came to live there for 4 years. He admitted his observations and opinions were wrong after moving there and getting to know other Americans personally.0 -
And why would you wash your hands before going into a toilet ?
I do that at work because my hands are sometimes dirty ( as opposed to a bit germy) and I wouldn't want to transfer oil/dirt to anything.
There used to be a poster up in my old workshop telling the guys to wash their hands so they didn't get oil or grease on their appendages as it could cause all sorts of problems so they were to wash their hands before AND after.
We only used antibacterial cleaners when DD was really small, and even then it was only before I used the worktop for prepping her food.
These days I'm not so fussed, DD has been sick about twice in her life and rarely has a cold, compared to some of her classmates who catch everything going. I'm a great believer in building up natural immunity (though I am really careful with raw chicken)Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I wouldn't buy it...not just because I see it as a waste of money when I can use an 80p antibacterial pump dispenser.......but because my flipping kids would think it was a new toy and play with it till it was empty!!:rotfl:
I think people can be OTT about germs. We have usual hygiene standards, nothing excessive and my kids are rarely ill, so I don't see the need to disinfect everything constantly.Cross Stitch Cafe member No. 32012 170-194 2013 195-207.Hello Kitty ballerina 208.AVA 209.OLIVIA 210.ELLA 211.CARLA 212.LOUISE 213.CHARLEY 214.Mother & Child 215.Stop Faffing Completed 2014 216.Stitchers Sampler. 217.Let Them Be Small 218.Keep Calm 219. I think many people forget that some germs are good!!
There are the ones that keep the gut healthy. You entire body is covered in a layer of bacteria which prevent you getting ill.
Germs are fabulous things and much needed.. there is no wonder so many people are constantly ill with this idiotic idea that everything has to be sterilised and germ-free!!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I remember one advert which showed a mother spraying the table on her child's high chair whilst the poor little sod was sitting in it. So, apparantly a few germs were going to kill him, but a lungful of spray antiseptic is perfectly okay!
This is one of my pet hates, staff in cafes and restaurants that go spraying the tables around you whilst you are eating so all the chemicals are in the air/ on your food. Would they do this in their own home during a meal
Can't they just clean the tables with a wet cloth and just do the spraying at the end of the day?[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica]

You can thank Environmental Health for that one.
All tables must be cleaned using anti-bacterial spray (and it's strong stuff) not just a cloth. They would get shut down (almost) for using a wet cloth now!0
