so, after venturing into making cakes just recently and having great feedback, im contemplating making a 3 tier cake for my mum's 65th birthday in a few weeks time. I have gone to town and bought some lilac, shell pink and baby blue icing to cover each tier, and to decorate it with fancy black swirls and put her name and 65 on the top. Even bought some wires to add a spray on the top as well.
Just want to make it sponge but dont know the best size cake tin or quantities of mixture etc. I have a deep 10" springform tin, but then only have shallow 8" tins. If anyone could help I would appreciate it xxYou're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Has anybody every made strawberry cupcakes....just wondering how they would turn out as mashed strawberries would make the mix quite runny !
Ive not made strawberry cupcakes using fresh strawberries, but followed a recipe on Good To Know for strawberry cupcakes using jam! They turned out quite nice (Although I didnt have enough jam for the recipe, they still tasted good!) with pink frosting and a fresh strawb on the top!
So much for 'Money Saving'0 -

It didn't take me too long actually, as I made the little figures during the week when I could grab a spare 10 mins here and there and then left them to dry out.

I made 5 lots of 6 cupcakes for Fathers Day yesterday; QPR fan - blue & White, chocolate set, an arsenal fan - red & White, a west ham fan - claret & blue & a set of blue & White for Daddy. Plus a bread pudding & cookies for a friend to give to her hubby! I was so tired of the kitchen by the end of it all! Bags of coloured buttercream & bowls everwhere!! I made such a mess!
The Mario cake is really good x0 -

Would you or any other lovely cake makers on here give me a guideline on how to make the toppers. At the minute ive been buying them but they are so expensive - £7-£10 and i would love to be able to make my own. what do you use to put on the tops of them??0 -
