    Hey ladies! (and any gents)

Wondered if you could help me...
I want to get my mum this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DAISY-FLOWER-MARGUERITE-8-LEAF-PLUNGER-CUTTER-CRAFT-/180581152047?pt=Uk_Crafts_Cake_Decorating_MJ&hash=item2a0b79b52f#ht_2094wt_1056
for mothers day, just wondered if you knew of any other place where it might be cheaper - I'm a poor student so working on a budget!

    Help would be much appreciated!
    Thanks :)

Its under £5 including postage! - i honestly dont think you will find them cheaper elsewhere online, and if instore the overheads make them even more expensive

just done a quick search and The Range has the exact same set of cutters for £10, and alot of cake sellers are charging £3.50 per cutter, so that makes the ebay ones, even more of a bargain

looks like its beans on toast for you for the next week :p

Ok you lovely bakers, I need some advise please.

I am making a wedding cake simular to below and wondered what size boards to use. Should I go for 1" or 2" bigger than the actual cake. Thanks

also do you think i'm ok to refridgeate this given its got cigarillos on it. It will be covered in buttercream first.

You'll need the boards atleast 2" bigger than the cakes, otherwise once you've added the buttercream and cigarillos you won't have any board left around the edges as 1" will only give you 0.5" of room at either side of the cake.

I wouldn't risk refrigerating it, it will make the chocolate go damp and ruin the finish of it, likewise don't put it in a plastic container, buy the card cake boxes instead as plastic makes it 'sweat'!!!

unless you have a local cake supplies store, then once you factor in postage, bulk doesnt work out cheaper than the supermarkets

Sainsburys charge £1.37 for a 500g block - most online cake stores charge between £12 -£15 for 5kg, so about £1.20 - £1.50 per 500g - postage is usually a flat rate of about £5 on top

the useby dates on paste is usually 4-6m. however an open pack will not keep for this length of time

gluten and dairy free is a hard one to do, most people can get away with one or the other

i check-out this blog for inspiration, and she does have a vegan cupcake recipe - i havent tried it, but all other recipes i have tried of Karinas, have been a hit
