SubWay rip off

I was walking past Subway once and one of their delivery persons accidentally dropped a load of red peppers all down my side. I went "Ouch" and he starting effing and blinding at me. So I made a note of his name badge and wrote to the head office and complained. Never got a reply though.
I don't think their meats are as fresh as they make out. It's like its been drying out for a week.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040 -
Balck Saturn, you are completely correct about the meat.
I was talking to someone in Mexico about this. the meat that is distributed to the mexican subways is sent from the states. I wonder how far the meat is sent from to the UK?
I object MASSIVELY to the use of the word "fresh" the meats precooked and sliced and distributed to a variety of subway shops.
The bread is "baked" in store. Having worked in a supermarket bakery I will tell you exactly what this means. It part cooked, and then frozen, then sat in huge cardboard boxes in commercial freezers on an industrial estate for months, then distributed to the retailer who freezes it for a bit longer, then they are removed from the cardboard box and "baked" for 10mins. Its no "fresher baked" than a supermarket frozen pizza done at home.
And that dubious smell when you walk by, fake herby bread smell being pumped out.
Avoid the turkey as well, theres something rather spongy about it. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

This Ive come to know...

I think 1.99 for a sub of the day is EXCELLENT - and you can get it in any city you happen to be visiting (I travel a lot for work) - always a good way to get a cheap meal!
Exactly! Tis a bargain for us Londoners! Subway is one of the better places to eat for a quick lunch.0 -
I have tried in subway in Derry, Antrim and Glasgow.
They are not high class restaurants but offer reasonable value for money. Also its a chip free restaurant so I not tempted to have chips as well.
Subway recently issued books of discount vouchers for Derry and Antrim. I've had no problems using them in Derry. In fact I was allowed to use 2 vouchers at the same time, which technically is not allowed. I think they put them thru as separate transactions."Food has replaced sex in my life. Now, even I can't get into my own pants."0 -
the thing that bugs me about subway is the lack of consistancy.
went to subway in newquay over the summer, had a footlong sub which is was sharing with OH. we wanted different salad on each half, i asked the biy for this, and he did it no problem.
asked for the same thing again at cardiff bay subway, where apparently the closest they get to putting different salad on each half is plonking it all in the middle  its a shame i was starving, otherwise, i would have refused the sub and made him start againknow thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
the isuse is that they are franchises, so they are as well run as its owner.
Same with burger king. Some are worth going to, many only worth avoiding. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.

I used to go to Subway for lunch all the time, until my work colleagues introduced me to local baguette shops. At least their food really is fresh - apart from the drinks, of course.0

Our local one to work has had a running offer this week of 4 x baggettes and 4 x drinks for £9.99 but as they have a 6in and a drink for £2.49 why would you bother?
In our local paper tonight theres a flash offer on the front saying freebies at Subway, so I have gone for a closer inspection. Its for 2 x 6in, 2 drinks and 2 crisps or cookies (size a biscuit actually not a handful size cookie) for £5.99, no deal as far as I'm concerned.
I must admit to being intrigued at what the offers are more and more now!Panda xx
