    No.

McDonalds did (or still do) have a stake in Pret, though.
  • Yup, I've fallen foul of Subway's so called rules.

About a year ago I had a voucher for any sub for £1.99 or something like that.

So, chose the most expensive sub (as you do) and was told at the checkout that the voucher wasn't valid on that one!!!

I recently was given a BOGOF voucher for Subway. The next day I decided to use it by taking my children in there for a treat. They both decided what they wanted and the sandwiches were made up. When it came to the till they said I couldnt use the BOGOF voucher because I wasn't given it that day. So I said "OK I don't want it then" and took them to McDonalds. I know it probably cost me more in McDonalds but it was the principal of it. I looked closely at the voucher and it said nothing about being limited to one day or no date limits on it. I've stopped going in there now and especially since they stopped offering the stamps.

Yes, but the minimum wage employee on the till is unlikely to be authorised to offer reductions of this nature.

Oh my god, surely people don't go to Subway? I have never understood this. I go to a bakery and they make half a baguette with any filling you like for £1.20, more than half the price of Subway.

This is true, also the minimum wage employee is unlikely to be bothered if they make a sandwich which ends up in the bin. It happens a lot apparently, especially with the '£1.99 Sub of the Day' confusion as people will try to upgrade to a footlong for £2.99/£3.09/£3.19 or whatever it is and be annoyed that they can't trade up for that price with the SOTD.
I have had friends that worked at Subway (between me and my friends, we have pretty much done most places in retail:rolleyes:)

They throw away loads of stuff each day that goes unused that can't be left until the next day so they really are not going to be bothered about one sandwich.
My friends had to work long hours, were on minimum wage and had managers and customers that treated them badly, thats why they left.
The same with all food retailers, waste is part of the daily routine, it happens.

I went to a subway once, and didn't realise the sandwich i bought was on offer, and the bloke sold it full price. Went and ask for the difference back and asked why he hadn't sold it at the advertised reduced rate.

He refused to pay the difference back saying it was up to the customer to ASK for the discount at the time. Don't ask don't get!!!

Anyway the muppet refused whatever agument was put his way. Think it got to the point where he wasn't going to admit he was in the wrong.

The manager finally appeared, and that sorted that!!

You obviously don't live in London????

I think 1.99 for a sub of the day is EXCELLENT - and you can get it in any city you happen to be visiting (I travel a lot for work :D) - always a good way to get a cheap meal!
