Thanks Beccie!
Yes, sunlight is key...
OK I'll do my scientific bit..
Psoriasis is the result of skin cells that reproduce too quickly, from what I remember a normal skin cell cycle is around 11 days, psoriatic cells reproduce every 4 days. The UVA in sunlight actually kills the cells stopping them from reproducing. When I was much much younger I had a sunbed based treatment called PUVA funded by the NHS, I had to bath in a plant chemical called soralin (sp?) which naturally occurs in Brocolli etc then go on a special sunbed for periods of time which were gradually increased. It worked but without continued treatment I was back to my version of normal within a few weeks
. If I go away in the sun it always gets much much better and Psoriasis is rarely seen in countried with hot climates...
Is that not a great excuse to move abroad? :rotfl:
The catch 22 situation is that while sunlight is great for your skin, you aren't likely to want to walk around in public with it exposed!

Sounds to me like you'd best get to the Maldives straight away! :rotfl:
Thanks for explaining, because, to be honest, I don't know much about it.
So does it help to eat more of things like broccoli then or do you have to specifically put it on your skin?

Thats ok! Most people think it's more of a dry skin issue but it's not, normal moisturisers don't really help at all.
The chemical is present in Broccoli but in such a small amount that you would have to eat your body weight's worth for it to have an effect and as far as I know you can't just buy it because it can be harmful if not managed properly.

There was a report on the news a few weeks ago about people in Cornwall being prescribed surfing on the nhs, think it was for depression. Maybe your doctor could prescribe the Maldives?

You need to get that debt cleared asap so you can get some sun holidays booked up!0 -
I think it would be far more effective to prescribe holidays in the Maldives than tablets!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

I agree 100% but not sure the NHS would :rotfl:

Hi Jody
Have been reading some of your earlier diary and noticed you were doing One Poll Surveys. Are you still getting these? I joined back in around Jan and have still only reached approx £26, I don't even get 1 Survey a month sometimes, I doubt I will ever reach the required £40!LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

Hi Jody
Been lurking on your thread for a while but haven't commented before.
I was having a chat with a guy at work last week. His daughter had put on a lot of weight and dieting wasn't helping at all. About a year ago she was diagnosed with PCOS and while researching it found out that the diet she was using was not good for PCOS sufferers at all. They switched her to another diet and she has now lost 4 stones in 12 months.
Happy to ask him for more details if it would help.
Also, everyone thinks that tea does not go towards the required water intake for the day but it does, any fluid does. I switched to caffeine free tea years ago so that I don't feel so guilty about the 10-15 mugs I drink a day! I also halved my sugar intake too.

Hi Matymoo, thanks very much for your post! I would be really interested to hear what sort of diet she went on, I have tried to refrain from doing too much internet research as I would much prefer to hear what works for others!
I seem to be averaging about 8 cups a day now, it's not brilliant but it is liveable, especially with only one sugar in it
.
Went to see a school for DD last night, it was good news - she didn't like it :j! She much prefers the smaller school we saw a few weeks ago. Myself, her nan and her Dad all preferred the first school but I thought DD might be swayed by some of her friends going to the bigger school but fortunately not. I was so put off at the school last night - it was grubby, no teachers made an effort to take to anyone, the equipment was old and it was just a huge school. At Astor (the smaller school) they were getting her involved in experiments and talking to us and were much more approachable. Just have to hope she gets a place there now!
So glad it's Friday, I am so tired! I am being naughty today and rewarding myself with Scampi for cutting down my sugar
!
Hope everyone has a good day

My time to update!
Current DMP balance;
Estimated Total Remaining Debt £6162.58
So next month I will be sub £6k :j.
Nothing to report on savings front as it looks like I am missing 2 weeks pub work
although once my endowment pays out I will have some money from that after paying centreparcs off etc
.
Did another VO survey so now just under £10, that will be another Amazon Voucher for Xmas gifts. It's moving in the right direction, just a little slower than first hoped. Must check change pot as think I have at least £25 in there
