Hi MLRH! Good to see you back
.
Just been and done my two scratchies for today, am at £11.01 now so will let them build up for a bit longer ready for xmas! I realised yesterday that when I was looking at my bank I had forgotten that I paid out £50 deposit for our xmas meal on friday which I will get back next week, that will bolster funds a little
. Went shopping last night, £110 , that always happens when we both go shopping rather than me going on my own. OH paid though
OH made the most AMAZING Thai green currey last night, we have bought a few jars of ready made sauces before but he bought a paste and added coconut milk, lime, ginger, some water chestnuts and carrots & sugar snap peas *YUM*, it was a little on the warm side but I was almost licking my plate clean :rotfl:. I'm doing an early roast today as I am working tonight.
Completely forgot to get washing tablets so might have to go out and get some which is annoying. Might also have to get some tins of chocs as Mr T have them on buy one get one free and they always come in handy at Xmas time for the office and last minute gifts.

Sorry to hear bout your fish, that is sad

But, a massive WELL DONE on the savings total, that is amazing! :TDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
Cheers Becsicle!
Cooked a massive roast yesterday afternoon and went to work last night. Looks like my hours may have been cut as we found a new rota that has us all finishing or starting later and it looks like my shifts are later start times. As per usual though, no one has been told so I will just carry on what I am doing until such time I am informed otherwise. Last night was very random, I had two trashed people almost falling asleep at the bar and a breakdancing dog :rotfl:. It was really quiet so I got out at 11 which was nice, another £60 in my pocket.
Only 10p on scratchy today, been fantasising about holidays...I so badly want to book something but I know I can't, it's so depressing
. I know it will all be worth it in the end though so must keep thinking positively. If I can't get enough money together for a May Maldives trip then I might aim to go in Sept or mid October, gives me a lot more time to save then.
Only four weeks today until payday

Ha ha forgot about that! My Dad calls me Beccles - which is pretty close!
Most people I know call me Bec or Beccs - I've lost count of the number of people who think it's hilarious when ordering a Becks in the pub to say I'll have a Becks please Beccs...oh well if it keeps them happy! :rotfl:Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -

*waves* hello diary newbie, thanks very much for dropping by and for your encouragement
I can imagine that gets really old really quickly beccie, I think I would have to give them a real sarky one liner back :rotfl:.
Yay, Choc is back! This year has gone amazingly quickly and I reckon I will blink and it will be xmas so hopefully the end is nigh! Was a bit naughty today, booked panto tickets but I knew I was going to be doing that soon so not too unexpected. We are going at 6pm on Xmas eve, it keeps us amused and means OH can go for his manly drink *roll eyes*.
Also got DD a Simpsons puzzle ball for Xmas, she saw one a while ago and thought it was really cool but when I looked on Amazon they were about £15 . Won one on Ebay earlier for ther grand sum of £5.20 including postage! It's been opened and put together but all the bits are there, DD won't even notice
.
Bed time soon I think, didn't sleep well last night so need to catch up!

Morning all!
10p on scratchy this morning. Paid some small amounts over to savings PAD style. Just waiting for all my DD's to come out now and have 2 expenses cheques to pay in so will have a much clearer funds picture once that's all sorted.
Hoping I may have enough to warrant a hair chop and some new trousers this month although might be a tad tight with Centreparcs trip. DD also wants to go to Santa's magical kingdom again which is £27.50 each , mum also wants to come and said she will pay for half of DD's ticket so that helps. Not heard back from the savings people yet, not sure whether to cancel the direct debit or not?

I love the PAD thing - it's definitely helped me stick to stuff having to post on that thread every day!
Must have missed the savings bit! Why do you need to cancel the direct debit?Debt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
I probably didn't explain it very well!
I took out an endowment type savings plans 5 years ago for my daughter as she didn't qualify for the child trust fund. I've paid £15 every month since then but when I actually looked at it.....it's rubbish! It was doing very well for the first two/three years but with the recession the return is just plummeting, to the point that I would probably get more in a high street savings account.
The flip side....and I am sure I will get slated for this...is that the plan is in my name, so I could cancel it whenever I want and use the money to put towards debt if i wanted to. The cash in value as of January this year was around £500 - considerably less than I have paid in but that's the whole problem with endowments (I have learnt my lesson now). I've been seriously toying with the idea of cashing it in, paying off the centre parcs balance and a school trip that DD wants to go on (£140!) and then using the rest to put towards debt. Then once it's paid off I would start paying £25 a month into a bog standard account for her in place of the endowment.
I wrote to them last week asking for full details of all payments and bonuses to datel, the cash in value and revised future projections so see what is best. I feel bad about wanting to cash it in but so long as I use it wisely I know once I am sorted I can make a much better choice about what to do with savings for her.
Phew, that was long, sorry!

I think I would go with cashing it on if it were me, especially if it is worth less than you have paid in.
If you can use the money more wisely now and then sort out some savings that would be more benficial to her once you're done then I think that sounds like a more sensible decision.
Try not to feel guilty - I know it sounds like you're doing it for yourself but long term you're really not
