It's technically Friday for me as I am off tomorrow :j, felt quite unwell last night, I fell asleep on the sofa for about twenty minutes and had a really sore throat. I was adamant I was going to wake up feeling rubbish but touch wood I feel ok at the moment.
My assistant has come in this morning with minstrels, aero bubbles, choc cornflake cakes, milk tray and jammie dodgers, yum.
Not much to report on the money front, I have been very lazy and can't remember the last time I did a survey, must get back on track. Am working on Saturday night and should only need some petrol next week. Think we are still going to the zoo tomorrow after a lay in of course
.
Hope everyone has a good day

Thanks for your post Beccie, a lot of it made total sense. I used to be quite materialistic but I agree in that whatever I have now can be bought or got again should I ever decide to up and leave! The only problem really is my job, whilst I am sure I could get another one I have very good long term prospects here and am also tied in with share options which I really don't want to lose. I had a very informal chit chat with my line manager at lunch yesterday and off record the bottom line is that if I wanted to go travelling for maybe 3/4 months then they should be able to keep my job open for me but any longer then that it just isn't feasible. The reason for this is that my job involves a calculation of highly important data for the bank every quarter - it's blinking complicated and only me, my boss and the chief finance officer know how to do it .
Anyway....all that waffling aside, I suggested that rather than do an extended period of time (as I don't think that would suit OH) perhaps I could have a couple of 3 week periods of annual leave. That way we would have enough time to visit 3/4 different places and it wouldn't cause too much of a problem at work, boss agreed :T. The only problem at the moment is that I haven't mentioned any of this to him indoors :rotfl:. if I brought it up now I expect the response to be 'let's talk about it once you have paid your debt off', so that's what I am planning to do, doesn't stop me planning my first trip though.
Hey Jody,
Glad to hear your feeling a bit more cheerful!:D
If your job would give you 3-4 months off in one go I would take that rather than 3 weeks at a time if you can. Just from my experience it's better to have longer to get into things when travelling and it also works out a lot cheaper per week as costs of flights, jabs, visas etc don't change if your there for longer. That was me though and your plans may well be different!
I know that you have to pay debts first but I would still start planning! It's so much motivation to know what you're looking forward too but also means you can get an idea of costs so you'll know how much you're looking to be able to save as well.
My only other recommendation would be not to do Europe if you're looking to save money - I spent a month doing that and it has to be some of the most expensive travelling I'be ever done!
I know work have said it would be better for you not to go as you're the only one that knows how to do something, but from the other point of view you may find that gives you a little more sway into being able to go because on 3-4 months could they really find someone to replace you and train them to know what you know? Probably not!
Anyway, I'll stop rambling now! Enjoy your day off tomorrowxx

I would say the completely opposite, I would rather take 3 weeks off and go more often, at least I would have something to look forward to while back at work. Also I'm quite restless on holiday and can get very bored if I go away for long time.
I know that you have to pay debts first but I would still start planning! It's so much motivation to know what you're looking forward too but also means you can get an idea of costs so you'll know how much you're looking to be able to save as well.
Second that, I would still start planning!

Yes, I wouldn't do Europe either, I would leave it for when I am old and have lots of kids, flights are always affordable there. While you're young, go as far as possible and see as much as possible.

Yes, enjoy your day and glad you're feeling better!0 -
Hey lovely,
I hope you are having a lovely day off and feeling more like yourself. I go through stages of being restless like you and come up with all sorts of things I want to do which when I really look back 99% of them I don't want to do I just want to do them because I can't and I can't because of the debts, lol :rotfl:
I think it's important (even with debts!) to have some goals in life be it short term or long term....a friend of mine has a 1yr, 2yr and 5 yr plan of things she would like to do, achieve and so on....perhaps you can set yourself up some goals as such pending on what it is you would like to do and maybe discuss them with OH and find out what goals he has? Everybody has goals or wishes!
I've come to realise that I need to take baby steps in all parts of my life and drop the all or nothing approach that I seem to have every couple of months - this is my downfall and just sends me into feeling more down about things. Taking baby steps to achieve everything is def my way forward and have starting to try and adopt this approach to everything I do rather than going crazy!!
I hope you are keeping chin up and having today off doing you some good, be kind to yourself.

Good Morning world!
Thanks for everyones input on my restlessness and the travelling front. I don't plan on doing Europe anytime soon, I would rather do the rest of the world whilst I am still 'young' and then maybe do Europe when I am a bit older and can't deal with the long flights so well :rotfl:.
Went to the Zoo yesterday, I haven't been there for a few years and OH doesn't ever remember going there so we all had a great time. They do a safari through a huge area where they have free roaming giraffes, zebras, buffalo and deer etc. We had a really good driver who actually commentated himself for us rather than put on the rubbish auto commentary and stopped quite a few times so we could get good pics. When we stopped half way I thanked him as I got off and OH says I obviously made the guys day, he looked so shocked and pleased. I guess a lot of people don't bother! One thing I did forget though is that this particular Zoo is built on a hill and once you get to the bottom it's all uphill, I was knackered
. Only spent £20 there which was for ice creams and the safari trip, OH bought lunch and doughnuts
.
I'm working tonight so today will be quite chilled, got a few bits of housework to do but that will be about it. Tomorrow my friend is having a BBQ for her daughters birthday so I think we are going for a few hours in the afternoon. They live quite a way from me so it's going to cost a bit in petrol but with working tonight it won't be so bad.
I thought money was going to be tight until payday but with only spending £20 yesterday and needing a bit of petrol it wont be as bad as I thought, looks like I will still have managed to put a decent chunk away and thats with buying OH's trainers and the Zoo tickets etc. Have got centreparcs to pay for by November but am hoping that Quidco might actually sort out the two big cashback amounts I am waiting for which will cover almost all of it!
Mum brought me back two big pouches of tobacco from her holiday and that will last me at least a month with what I already have so that has saved me another £25 :T. Only have brothers birthday in Sept to fork out for so am hoping I can blast my savings total out of the water :j

Morning everyone,
I am sooooooooooo tired, I spent most of the night awake because I was waiting for my exam results to come through by email, they finally came through at 4.09 am
AND I PASSED THEM BOTH :j
Not sure if the bold statement above conveys how happy and relieved I am :rotfl:. You have to get 50 or higher to pass and I got 61 on my law paper and 70 on my performance paper so I actually passed by a decent margin on both. I really thought I had failed at least one so now I don't have to do any resits. I know it's not very MSE but surely I can splash out on a chinese to celebrate tonight?
Will update on everything else later, just had to share :j
