I'm probably only a couple of grand short EB, so I would never leave for that amount, I could end up somewhere with a horrible boss and people I don't like!

Fingers crossed you get a decent payrise in Dec x

I got last year 1.8% payrise ( I know, I know...) this year I am looking at a grand total of 1.05% :(. That is appr 50p an hour...Oh well, more than nothing...My industry is really suffering so I am lucky to be honest to have such a good job and still receive a bit of payrise.

I've only just broken the 20K barrier and to be honest, think my pay is probably about right for what the job requires.

My biggest goal for when I'm debt-free is to start saving with OH for our year away travelling.

Once we come back (if we do!) then I'm actually probably going to be looking at jobs where I am paid less than now. Paying such a high amount towards my debt has shown me that I can survive on very little money so to take a paycut wouldn't bother me that much.

All the jobs that I want to do and would enjoy are badly paid so I'd have to do it.

Doing the volunteer work in Africa showed me that the best thing in life is getting up to do something you want to do every day, where every job has a point to it and that hard work is well worth the effort.

I know it sounds a bit fluffy what I've just said but for me doing something I want to do will far outweigh how much I am paid for it :)

Sorry Jody I've just realised that sounds like I'm talking down your payrise :o

I think you thoroughly deserve it, you've worked hard and it's nice that you've been rewarded for that :)

I'm gonna disappear quicly before I dig myself a bigger hole! :o

Also got my fingers crossed for you EB!

You are right, you have to weigh up all the pros and cons, I used to work in my home town and could walk in within 20 minutes, now I have a 40 minute drive either way and work longer hours. I'm lucky that we all get on great here and it's a great working environment as that makes a lot of difference :). I will definately be glad when my study is finished!!

I was perving over cars last night, one of my favourite hobbies after holiday searching and I have my heart set on an Audi S3....only problem is that they cost pretty much what I earn in a year :rotfl:. Just been told I am getting another 1,000 share options too. Just need the company to start making some serious money!

Very happily married on 10th April 2013 :D

Don't be silly hun, I didn't read it like that at all! I never dreamed of being an Accountant and I have only done it so I can earn good money and have a nice house and nice holidays, I don't want to do this forever by any means. I would love to do more diving and underwater photogrpahy but realistically it wont pay the bills so I plan to go away more and do it in my free time....funded by this job if that makes sense?

Just think though, with the savings habits you are making now, you probably would be able to save up and buy that car!:)

What are share options? I am so dense with that kind of stuff! :o

  • Speaking of payrises, OH will get one as soon as his apprenticeship finishes and he starts working as a fully qualified electrician!

He got an letter with his certificate and it said that as soon as his qualification is processed and registered with the SQA they will be able to issue him his bonus?!?! Bonus, what bonus?! :j

    That's ok then :)

I would love to do more photography too, wildlife stuff. I met a guy in Zimbabwe who did that full-time and he had the kind of life I dream of, just a bag of clothes and doing what he loved.

But, he had the back up of the fact he owned property in Ireland so if things went wrong he would still have money. So having a well paid job to back up that kind of stuff makes perfect sense.

  • That's my aim once I'm debt free, to start saving properly, not sure of a figure yet though!
