Woo hoo :j
That will make a nice monthly difference
Has that taken any of the pressure off for reaching your DFD?LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)
Barclays: £2,928.34 Lloyds: £2,499.60
MBNA: £3,788.99 Overdraft: £1,900.00 Mum: £1,738.00

Thanks hun, been told that my year end bonus will be 'looked at' too so hopefully it wont be as bad as it should be on paper.
Net extra bearing in mind that I have suspended my pension is around £180, big difference! Majority of that will go in savings this month .
One of my main aims was to earn £30k before I was 30 so as long as my bonus is over £2.5k I will do that this year! (I haven't officially earned the £30k as the rise is split over 2 tax years but my package will be in excess of that!)

I am lucky to earn what I do but without sounding pretentious....I do believe I have earnt it
, I've been studying for 5 years now and still have another two to go! 5 years ago I was in a dead end job that I hated and if someone had told me then that by the age of 30 I would be middle management and earning in excess of £30k I think I would have died laughing. If I hadn't had a random call from a recruitment agency I would probably still be at the blinking DVLA!
I was thinking on the way home from work about how much I will be better off once my debt is paid off and I came up with the following:
No DMP Payment - £250
This Payrise - £150ish
No HMRC Tax Credit Repayment - £40
No Insurance DD - £30
That's a nice amount every month and doesn't include what I have been saving! The idea is that I wont have to do my Insurance by DD and I will be able to pay off the balance of my tax credit overpayment.
Got home tonight to a gorgeous big bunch of flowersand OH cooked a lovely (but ridiculously hot) thai curry tonight. Will be so glad when tomorrow is over with, I can't wait to have a lay in although I must do lots of revision this weekend and I'm working Saturday night. OH just told me we need to go to his parents because they think we have split up/I'm dead as they haven't seen me for so long

I get mad about my salary as I'm underpaid for my role, but like the people and it's five minutes from home so you have to weigh it all up at the end of the day.
It's amazing to think that one phone call changed your future, I really am pleased for you hun about the payrise, you deserve it xLBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

fab news on the payrise Jody!
Woowoo - its a fine balance between giving up a job you like but is underpaid and going for something "more". In so many ways personal happiness is worth more than hard cash, but then again I would want to know my efforts were being rewarded as well. Would you get much more elsewhere? if it would only make a couple of grand difference then perhaps I'd let it go, but if you are talking about closer to 5-10 grand I think I'd be trying to squeeze them...
My bosses met yesterday to discuss the pay rises/bonuses (they usually come 1 December, although last few years they have been a little bit later). Not expecting much, to be honest, we've been told for the last few years that there will be no raises, but so far they haven't missed one. I usually get between 2,500/4,000 gross salary increase, and bonuses can be anything between 1,500 - 5,000 net. lets hope its nearer the top end this year - I will then clear virgin altogether and starting chunking off the B'card... oh how lovely would that be!0
