At my old old job in a supermarket we had a tannoy system and one of the managers got married and didn't change her name we couldn't work out why until someone let slip her new surname would've been Gibbon. That would have been a giggle several times a day calling Mrs Gibbon to places in the store.
No offence anyone if it is your surname... was just funny because of the tannoy...
We also had a Mr Broom that had to go places lol (obv to sweep the floor :rotfl:)Engaged 25/12/2013 :T

Did anyone realise we did almost 5 pages today, that could be a new record!! I also noticed my diary is now over 1,000 posts :T, I looked to see who made the 1000th post and it was me :rotfl:purple_butterfly28 wrote: »Hi Jody and the other ladies and gents on this thread. Spotted this a couple of weeks ago when i was looking through various diaries and think jody's fish intrigued me. I would love to keep tropical fish but the OH is not keen. How did you get into it and did you find it expensive to start/ with the electric bills?
It's taken me a fair while to get to the bottom of the posts on this one lol but sounds like you're all a lovely bunch and i would absolutely love to go to the maldives!!
Like the rest of you the marriage thing is a dodgy subject in my house. I know the OH wants to get married and have kids one day, but I don't feel ready yet so think i'm the one delaying it.
Would love to plan the whole thing but think once i realised it was me going down the ailse and stood in front of everyone i might do a Julia Roberts in runaway bride :rotfl:and i can't run very fast/far.
Getting there slowly, but parents divorce never helped my opinion. His little sister is getting hitched next July so who knows....
I did catch myself looking at pretty rings the other day in H Samuels haha sub-concious is evil sometimes
I know for a fact though that i wouldn't be whisked away to paris for a proposal though as the OH hates france....think it's an anti Man U Eric Cantona thing he has (Liverpool fan).
Hope you don't all mind me dropping in from time to time.
Welcome along my love! Of course we don't mind you dropping in at all. In regards to the fish question....
I used to keep tropicals when I was younger, they are really easy to keep if you know what sort of equipment to get from the start and equipment tends to depend how big the tank is but tropicals are generally quite hardy and fairly cheap to get running! Most of the equipment is fairly low wattage so shouldn't cost too much on the leccy! I have Marine Fish now and they cost a BOMB, no joke. I've spent fortunes on lights, equipment, salt, food etc. There are a lot of variables in the Marine aquarium and I've had to learn some lessons the hard way but if it's something you want to do then you just need to read, read and read some more before you start.
If trops/marine are ever something you want to get started with then drop me a PM and I will see if I can help get you goingChoc-addict wrote: »Blimey I can never keep up with this posts on Jody's diary! Will read them all later this eve!
Loving the wedding talk..... I was secretly hoping for a bday/5yr anniversary proposal.....but nah, didn't happenThat was last week.
Thing is I have the most practical boyfriend in the world who (thankfully as I don't!) thinks of everything i.e. if we get engaged could we afford to get married (with my debt nope!), children...bigger house....so on and so on....he's very sensible in that sense but then a big kid in other ways.....anyhow he often says the more I talk about it the less likely it'll happen and I asked a male colleague at work about this and he said it's true as his now fiance used to go on and on and it drove him insane and as soon as she 'shut up', so to speak, he went on to propose.....he said for him he wanted it to be a surprise and that it wouldn't have been so if he'd done it during time she was non stop talking about it. Hmmmm, food for thought!
As for rings....i'd like a simple small diamond....nothing major as i'm not big on the bling! :rotfl:Oh and will have to be plat or white gold as i'm a silver only kinda girl
Hey maybe next year we'll all be planning our weddings and announcing our proposals through this thread.....here's hoping ladies!!!!
Hiya Choc, did you have a good birthday?! Sorry to hear no proposal, don't you just wish that sometimes our OH's would just throw caution to the wind and get on with it already??! :rotfl:, at least you have the house now and that's a good start for kiddiewinks
. I love white gold too
, I wonder how much things will change for us all between now and next year!

Oooh I got home from work to find a bunch of flowers on the table, some Magners in the fridge for me, dinner in the oven and he was washing up :T, what a good boy
.
He also called Sky who reckon it's the actual dish and we have to pay for them to come out, OH said he couldn't be mean because the girl on the phone was so nice *muppet*! We might see who else in our building is with Sky to see if they want to chip in or whatever, if not, I will phone them Friday and threaten to cancel unless they sort it out, am not paying £40 a month if I can't watch the box

Bless your OH for flowers, cooking your tea and putting Magners in the fridge
I can't believe you have to pay Sky to come out! Who owns the dish?LBM Aug 09: £18,650.47 - Current: £12,854.93 (£5946.79)

They do! That's what annoyes me the most, the dish doesn't belong to one specific flat, it's a communal jobbie so surely it's in Skys best interest to get it working so we don't all cancel!?

How lovely of your OH, it's nice when they make an effort for you, no matter how small
My DH had to leave really early this morning as he's at a meeting in London today, but when I got down to the kitchen I found that he'd made my sandwiches for lunch, and laid out my breakfast stuff
