Yep it's massively expensive! The only way we could do it was to have just the ceremony and meal there for about 30 people max then a reception elsewhere but that would still cost a fortune!

Years ago I did some breakfast waitressing at a little hotel round the corner from my mums and they had a nice tudor style reception room and I know they are fairly reasonable so I think that would be a front runner IF we ever get hitched :rotfl:,

    Heres a link for you:

As OH is the nervous type I thought we would do minimal numbers for the actual ceremony but after out talk at our friends wedding reception it seems he may have other ideas :o

That looks so cute and intimate Jody....I really like it! Shame I don't live near by!! :D x

this is link for where I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to get married...... http://www.themanorbarn.co.uk/

Sounds like you got a good bargain there Jules :). I think weddings can cost as little or as much as you want them too, I know there are certain things I would want but I would also like to do a lot myself and I certainly would not be paying hundreds for a wedding cake or the like.

I don't think it's likely either of our families would be able to help money wise but I already have a list of useful people with useful talents in my head :rotfl:

I made my own wedding cake and I've made one for a friend before.....

I want to go on some sugarcraft courses etc before I start advertising myself! Will need to be a viable business before I can give up work as well! I do commissions for friends though ;)

  • I see we're still on the wedding talk ladies :rotfl:

I haven't gone as far as to look at venues or dresses but did manage to slip in the ring sale at H Samuels last night :p We were watching Goldigga and Proud and one of the goldigga's managed to get a guy to propose with a £12,000 ring, OH's jaw dropped and I slipped in 'don't worry love, the one I like is only £524 now!'

    Clever eh?!

On another note, I notice Adam is steering clear of this particular topic! :rotfl:

Wow Jules they are some awesome cakes there :D, very elegant!

Choc that place looks stunning! Absolutely gorgeous, I can see why you like it so much ;). My favourite Maidstone venue is an old mill and it's beautiful but costs a bomb as it's a venue charge then you have to get outside catering in, meh :(.

The problem I am having now is that a lot of people I know either have got married recently or are getting hitched next year and are using up all the venues I like :rotfl:, I just don't want to get married where someone else I know has, yes I'm odd I know!

  • Not odd at all, my sister's venue will be ruled out for that very reason!

    Lovely cakes Jules :T

Did you get any reaction to your comment?!

I think Xmas is going to be very hard for me if he doesn't propose. I hope that doesn't come across as being demanding/selfish etc....OH knows how much I love Xmas and I really thought he was going to propose last year but he didnt. I know I will spend all day hoping for a ring and I'm worried about how down I will feel if I don't! :o
