Tesco Online Shop Rip off... well not really, what a palaver

Normally the site will give you a warning message if you chose a delivery date later than when an offer ends, or at least this has been my experience, so this allows you to go back and change your basket :j
I also find their substitutions policy very good, as has been said they will substitute a more expensive product and you dont pay a penny more, or a cheaper one and you get the difference back! :T0 -

They will substitute items that are part of a deal, meaning you lose the whole deal. For example, they will substitute a main dish that is part of their Finest £9 deal, meaning instead of costing you £9 in total, it's often significantly more expensive. You have to watch out for things like that.
They will also substitute branded products for Value.
If I'm unhappy with a substitution (having said the above, they're normally quite sensible) or a price, I hand the item back to the driver. Couldn't manage without online groceries - I don't drive and the thought of doing a monthly shop using the bus is not pleasant.
My only gripe with Mr T is I haven't managed to get a single code working for months and months now!0 -
Hi All,
Not sure the online grocery shopping is a good idea now, although we will probably keep on doing it but we'll think about it first. This week we did our shop for groceries on Tesco online. We did a shop one night around 9pm, then had the delivery the very NEXT day. One item purchased was Pringles at 99p, but when they were delivered the NEXT day, the price had gone up to £2.00. Once the delivery had been made and we checked through our shopping list later, we noticed the price change. We enquired by telephone and were told that in the terms and conditions it does say prices can change from those quoted at the purchase time, and also that we should check the delivery list and prices when the delivery is made.
Our delivery driver certainly didn't hang about for the list to be scrutinised and of course never has done so. They are busy folk!!
So in theory a £50 shop could result in a £100 bill... personally I think it is ridiculous.
Anyone have any similar experience or comments...?
You need to get out more! Im sure they gave you a credit.0 -

I have had substitutions in the past, and in general didn't have much of an issue with the online shopping as we have been using it for quite a while now. The support on the phone basically told my wife it was her problem and she should review all the times on the receipt prior to the delivery person leaving. This I found a bit of a cheek when the guys are very busy, and often complain so, and are in such a hurry. But I think we'll just insist in the future that they wait until we have reviewed our shopping list online and compared with the invoice.0 -
You said that the price change policy was detailed in the terms and conditions, so it is obviously not a rip-off as it is explained clearly.
You may not like it but it is not a "rip-off"0 -

Don't be disheartened.Just ignore some of the users here and don't respond to them. This is a brilliant site apart from the usual trolls you will find on every internet site.0
